Jaeyun would be lying if he said he was keeping up with the game even an ounce. Sure, he was following the ball wherever it was and cheered whenever everyone else did, but his eyes just couldn't stop glimpsing back towards the particular vampire who seemed to be so fast. It was genuinely harder to keep track of Sunghoon than it was of the ball.
He is aware of how regular soccer usually plays out, watching it a few times with his grandfather as a child. The rules were fairly simple, but when you mix in werewolf strength, night vision and vampire speed and super senses, the game is much different from your regular 11 versus 11 'kick-ball-into-the-goal' game.
Jaehyuk seemed well-versed in the sport as he was yelling and complaining the whole time, saying how they should put him on the team if they're going to play like 'noobs'. Jaeyun chuckled along, snacking on some of the popcorn his roommate had smuggled in, occasionally zoning out when the game became too much for his brain to process.
His mind was not with the game either - it was set in thinking about a beautiful raven clad in a dark red and white uniform with the number "23" who never seemed to be in the same place for longer than a millisecond.
Jaeyun sighs in satisfaction when half-time was called because he doesn't know how much longer he pretends to understand what was happening as he follows the ball like a meerkat. He took a few sips of water as everyone had finally calmed down and sat down. How can one stand still for 45 minutes and yell their lungs out is beyond him.
Jaehyuk informed him that the halftime was for 15 and that he severely needed to pee. The older got up and sprinted towards the bathroom along with what felt like half of the stadium, leaving Jaeyun to support Jiwon and Yujin as both of the cheer teams piled onto the stadium.
From what he knows from his friends, the vampires have an equally as strong cheer squad, the captain being a pure-blood vampire named Wonyoung. Jaeyun was well known because of her presence in the Student Body Council alongside Sunghoon. She is apparently very hard-working and super charming, Jaeyun is pretty bummed out from not being able to get to know her, even if Yujin had mentioned how the vampire was nice towards the werewolf cheer team when they had to share the stadium for practice one time.
Jaeyun got his phone out, snapping a few pictures as the werewolf cheer team got into position, a bunch of whistles and screams coming from all around the stadium, well, from the werewolf side at least.
The song that played in the background was some sort of weird remixed version of a song Jaeyun couldn't really recognise, but that didn't matter as he viewed the cheer squad do every single acrobatic in the book - backflips, cartwheels, back tumbles, the splits, even splits in the air and so much more. Their performance was so powerful and all of the team kept smiling and hyping up the stadium that Jaeyun couldn't resist cheering along - they were really good.
He snapped a few more pictures of his friends before Jaeyuk joined him once again, screaming his lungs out for the final acts. The two clapped loudly as the cheer team ended their performance.
And suddenly the whole werewolf side died down in instant, making Jaeyun feel very uncomfortable because he was about to clap for the other squad that stepped up before he remembered that he can't.
He pouted but did offer the group a small round of applause to himself, making no sound in fear of getting noticed.
The vampire team was dressed in the same uniforms except for the colours which were honestly cute in Jaeyun's opinion.
Song-wise, the vampires had a much more poppy choice of music, sticking to one song and keeping it consistent and elegant throughout the whole performance. It was honestly so impressive to him - the team had even added their bat forms to the performances, Jaeyun really didn't understand how the werewolf side could stay so silent through the whole thing.
As the team finished, Jaeyun clapped to himself once again, heart a little dejected at how no one seemed to spare the vampires any attention. He sighed, sinking into himself as he scanned the area once more, wanting to at least see Sunghoon because for some reason the lack of interaction between the two kinds made him very uneasy.
He looked towards the other side's benches, happy to see Sunghoon resting on one of the benches, congratulating who he assumed was Wonyoung with a huge smile and a small fist bump before the team went back into the dressing rooms. As if the vampire sensed his gaze, the male's crimson eyes shot toward him, sending Jaeyun's heart into a mess of fluttering butterflies.
He knows he can't do or say anything, but he was glad to at least have the male's eyes on him for a few seconds or so.
Sunghoon apparently felt the same because after he went back to talking to his teammates about strategy or something, Jaeyun noticed a small smile on the raven's lips, which made his own smile bloom.
"You're so obvious," the brunette choked on air as Jaehyuk made the very uncalled-for comment, "someone is bound to figure it out at some point, especially if you keep autonomously scenting him."
Jaeyun groaned, putting his head into his arms, "I know, just let me live in my little fantasy words for a little bit."
His roommate offered him a small pat on the back before getting ready to yell the rest of his lungs out for the other part of the game.
