Jaeyun, on the other hand, was so incredibly excited about the ball, even going as far as helping the werewolf Student Body Council with preparation. And he wasn't the only one - Jiwon and he had talked everyone's ears off from how incredibly overjoyed they were for the Ball, specifically because this was their first one and everyone seemed to have only good things to say.
"Jaeyun, please; you're going to make me fall if you keep shuffling around," Jaehyuk grumbled, struggling to put up the fairy lights in the stadium, trying his hardest to not fall face-first into the grass because his designated stool-holder was Jaeyun. Jaeyun who couldn't stop shaking from excitement, Jaeyuk swears if the brunette was in his wolf form, he'd be wagging his tail so hard he could actually take off like a helicopter.
"Sorry," the half-blood sheepishly smiled at him, holding the stool properly as Jaehyuk finished up the fairy lights for the evening.
"From all this excitement, I'm assuming you have a special date?" Jiwon chuckled next to them, arranging all sorts of napkins. Jaeyun felt his smile momentarily drop as he glanced at Jaehyuk in hopes of the older man coming to his rescue.
"N-No," Jaeyun didn't even know if he lied or not, technically Sunghoon had asked him to go and had asked to meet up after the Ball, yet in practice, he, in fact, did not have a date, "I am just excited because this will be my first ever solstice run in a long time."
"Oh~" the female awed happily, giving the thumbs-up towards the half-blood, "then we better make it a memorable one."
Jaeyun nodded yet his heart stung a little bit. He wanted to tell Jiwon about him being a half-blood so badly, but he knew the more people he told, the more dangerous it was, so he opted to suppress those feelings until there was a better time.
"Thank you for your help everyone, please rest until the evening, we will take it from here!"
The little werewolf group decided to split ways until the evening when the five of them would meet at Jaehyuk's and Jaeyun's dorm room, giving the half-blood a little breather and finally call Sunghoon who he had promised to call an hour ago.
The brunette informed Jaehyuk about his phone call and went in a different direction, randomly ending up in a deserted common room, the only thing in it being a one-person desk and a little chair, a cute bookshelf pinned on the wall.
He pressed Sunghoon's caller ID and waited patiently for the male to pick up. The brunette didn't have to wait that long because the vampire had picked up in a heartbeat, voice almost eager as he greeted Jaeyun.
"Hi, baby."
Jaeyun blushed horribly, trying his hardest to fight the urge to end the call and start squealing uncontrollably. Yet he eased himself and answered back, "Hi, Hoon-ah."
"How was preparation? Hopefully, better than mine."
Jaeyun chuckled, fully aware of all the responsibilities his soulmate had on his shoulders, "It went very well, I will send you a picture of the stadium afterwards, okay? I think it turned out super fairytale-like, almost as if you're walking into a child's storybook."
Sunghoon hummed in acknowledgement, "Oh~ Does that mean you'll be dressed like a prince tonight?"
Jaeyun chuckled, twirling his bracelet in his hands, "Very funny, Park Sunghoon, but sadly, I won't."
"Aw, I was hoping to spend the night with Prince Charming."
Jaeyun rolled his eyes but blushed either way, "You wish."
They chatted for a bit more, Sunghoon complaining about all the impossible expectations the vampires had put on this ball, making the brunette pout. He knows his soulmate is a very important member of the Student Body and has a fair share of responsibilities when it comes to the Winter Ball, but from the sound of it, he and Wonyoung are the only ones doing anything for it.
Jaeyun told the raven more about all the events and performances the theatre and drama club had been planning, joking about how Sunghoon could watch the performances in bat form from one of the bleachers. And honestly, the vampire was starting to consider doing just that.
"What time will you want to meet?" Jaeyun whispered after a minute of comfortable silence, "The run usually lasts around half an hour, so I can try sneaking away after that."
"Just call my name three times."
Jaeyun removed the phone from his ear, looking at the male's caller pictures as if he had finally lost it, "What are you? The Boogie Man?"
"No," Sunghoon chuckled from the other side of the line, "it's a vampire thing...between soulmates, whenever one lover needs the other, saying their name three times sends a brainwave from one soulmate to the other, my parents said that I should be able to do it since it's been about a month."
Jaeyun sealed the information shut, keeping in mind from now on, "I see...okay!"
They ended the call soon after that, Sunghoon needing to go back to work and Jaeyun needing to take a good nap before his night of mystery.
"He was lying off his ass, wasn't he?" Jaeyun looked at the phone with a fond smile.
