chapter eighteen.

"Got a date?" Jaeyun was startled, nearly dropping the dainty necklace he was struggling to put on for a good 10 minutes. He turned around to find Jaeyuk entering the room with a bowl of popcorn he had heated up in the common room.

"Y-Yeah," he whispered, evident nervousness ringing through the room. He has been very nervous and anxious the whole day, actually.

He was constantly shaking and zoning out whilst shopping with Jiwon, ending with the girl asking him if he was alright multiple times, to which Jaeyun had to embarrassingly lie and say that he was just thinking of some school assignments. He thought that maybe taking a nap would soothe the nerves, but all it did was leave him with his thoughts in a quiet room where the only thing he could think about was the date and the kiss.

His mind was flooded to the brim with all sorts of ways the evening could pan and out and it was slightly scaring him. Jaeyun wants this to go perfectly. He wants Sunghoon to not have any regrets and fully enjoy the evening as much as Jaeyun knows he will.

With another shaky breath, he tried to steady his hands and lock the small silver chain around his neck, failing miserably a few times before Jaehyuk finally took pity on him and offered a helping hand.

"Thank you," he mumbled in gratitude, looking at his outfit once more in the mirror. He wore a black silk dress shirt with some high-waisted dress pants along with his adored heeled boots. The two silver chains finished the look off pretty nicely, Jaeyuk even teasingly opened the top button to finish off the look.

"You look good, don't be so nervous," Jaehyuk offered the boy a gentle smile, patting down his shoulders in hopes of helping the slightest bit.

"What if...what if he doesn't want me?"

The older man cocked his head to the side in confusion, leading the two of them towards the bed, "Where is this coming from? Did that motherfucker do something to make you feel this way?"

"N-No it's just," Jaeyun exhaled tiredly, shrugging his shoulders, "I never seem to be enough for anyone...what if after a while the same happens with him?"

The werewolf exhaled an equally heavy sigh, patting the male's shoulder in comfort once again, "That's not something you should be contemplating alone, especially about your soulmate."

Jaeyun continued to listen.

"I don't know him well enough to say anything, but he's your soulmate...he's part of you and your present, future and even past, you guys are just fated to be with one another one way or another."

"You shouldn't let past events affect you or your new life, okay? Park Sunghoon is..., bluntly saying, complicated. But if he was so willing to stay with you through everything that had happened and even set up a picnic for you guys, I don't think you need be worried about him losing interest in you."

Jaeyun nodded, hugging Jaehyuk as thanks before going back to the mirror with slightly more confidence. He double-checked his front and back once more before grabbing a coat and his small bag, not wanting to carry his phone and wallet inside his pockets the whole night.

"Go get 'em, puppy," Jaehyuk teased, waving Jaeyun off as the brunette exited their dorm room and made his way towards the designated spot the two had agreed to meet at.

It was in front of a run-down convenience store that is only still up and running because of how frequently everyone from the Academy comes here. It was owned by a very sweet human Ajumma who seemed to have adopted all of the students. Jaeyun loved her so much.

"Hi, Sunghoon-ah," he laughed as he noticed the male eagerly looking around, trying to find his soulmate over the massive bushes in front of the school gates. Jaeyun nearly tripped from how pretty the taller looked - he wore all black; jeans, a turtleneck, some boots and a matching black blazer over the whole look, a dark wood picnic box in his hands.
