A MONTH LATER
"Okay, what's wrong?"
Sunghoon has had enough of Jaeyun pouting at him like he just denied the male a kiss, or he just said that they can't cuddle because Sunghoon has to work, or that they couldn't go out on their regular late-night dates - none of which were the case. The two had been cuddling for what probably was two hours or so, the vampire genuinely starting to get worried when the brunette didn't even complain about how he wasn't rubbing his head or scratching the back of his ear, or giving him enough kisses. All he did was pout and make Sunghoon's icy little heart worry.
"You've been looking like a crushed puppy for the past three hours, tell me what happened."
Jaeyun looked up, pout still evident as he sighed, holding the male tighter and exhaling the deepest sigh Sunghoon ever heard.
"Were you joking about taking me to the Winter Ball?"
Sunghoon's eyes widened, looking at the half-blood like he was crazy. Why would he be joking about such a thing?
"Of course not, pup," he moved some of the hair in Jaeyun's face away, keeping his palm on the younger's warm cheek, "why would you think that?"
"Because you can't take me and you know it," Jaeyun said seriously, his voice the sternest Sunghoon had ever heard, it was honestly slightly scary, "I just," the brunette paused, licking his lips as he collected his thoughts, "two people have asked me already..."
Sunghoon's eyes narrowed, which didn't go unnoticed by Jaeyun, "I keep shooting them down, of course," he explained, threading his fingers through the raven's locks to keep himself grounded and on track, "I just don't know how to feel about it anymore. We obviously can't go together, which is what makes me sad - I don't care too much about the Ball itself, I care about the fact that we can't dance, can't have fun and can't even be next to each other without everyone staring or having a dumb wall shock you."
The vampire's eyes softened as he pulled the smaller closer, tucking him under his chin in hopes of comforting him, "I know, pup," he planted a gentle kiss on the top of his head, "but I had an idea."
"Do you know how the Ball in the Academy works?" Jaeyun looked up and shook his head, the pout still not leaving his pretty face.
"The two species usually have separate Balls due to, well, you know," Sunghoon quickly tried to change the subject, knowing Jaeyun hates the rules about keeping werewolves and vampires separate, "anyway, the werewolves get to host it outside in the stadium because of some kind of running event with the moon or some shit."
Jaeyun hit him gently, glaring at the male, "It's the midnight run on the winter solstice, it's very important and special to us, don't talk like that about it."
Sunghoon gulped, mentally slapping himself over the head as he tried to move on, "Sorry, but yeah, the werewolves have it outside in the stadium whilst vampires have it inside of the academy's auditorium - the Wall gest lifted for the time being because no one really even bothers with each other when the Ball is in full motion."
Jaeyun nodded, wondering how the Academy had even come up with something like that.
"I still want you to experience the Ball," Sunghoon mumbled, gently playing with his soulmate's ear as the brunette pretended to bite at his fingers, mood already lighter, "especially now that you mentioned the run, I want you to have fun."
And the raven could already hear the younger's arguments and excuses how "It won't be the same without you " and whatnot, so Sunghoon gently shut the male up with a kiss on the lips, toes curling as he felt the warm lips move alongside his without question.
