The battle raged on with neither side giving an inch.

Hasent hovered there, panting. Takito was strong. This was very evident. But there was one thing he suspected the evil psychic-type had forgotten--a Tecnicone was still a Pokemon. And a Pokemon could be caught. Ash was right, he did always have a plan. And though it seemed a bit far-fetched, it was their only chance. Everyone's roles seemed simple enough. Ash and Serena had to distract (or defeat) Takito's Pokemon so that Elizabeth could focus on throwing the poke balls and catching Takito once he'd weakened from their air battle.

What he hadn't anticipated was how quickly the tide of the battle would turn against him.

"DIE!" Takito screamed, blasting another Dragon Pulse forward.

Hasent lunged to the side, gasping as he felt the heat of the flames rush by him. "You can't win this battle like that, brother!" he taunted. Below him, he could hear more voices ring out as others arrived to assist the battle. They would be fine. Now he just had to focus on--

Takito let out a furious below and threw himself at Hasent. Their bodies collided and immediately, the dark Pokemon reached for Hasent's throat. "Die!" he screamed again, fire gleaming in his eyes. At first, Hasent couldn't move as the fear petrified him. Then, he thought of what Ash or Elizabeth might do. They wouldn't give up and neither would he. Gathering up all of the momentum he could, he kicked out, catching Takito in the chest and propelling them apart.

Takito quickly righted himself. "You think you're so clever?" he growled. "Do you think that I don't know what your plan is here? It's written all over your face. You're merely a distraction. Well, you fought admirably, Hasent, but the time for games has ended."

"What are you--" his eyes widened as the realization crashed over him. "NO!"

As he feared, Takito whipped around and opened his jaws wide, preparing to send a Flamethrower toward the earth...and the group of kids all gathered in a ring in the open.

Bonnie! Panic erupted in his heart. Without thinking, he lunged at Takito, smashed into his side, and successfully sending both of them into a tail spin.

The ground hurtled toward him as he frantically tried to right himself to no avail. Above him, he heard Takito's maniacal laughter and twisted around to see the Tecnicone holding himself aloft with the Psychic move. Frantically, Hasent tried to use his new-found form to right his free-fall, but it was too late. He was much too close to the ground, wings flailing helplessly at his side. He squeezed his eyes shut and prepared for the worst...

"Gardevoir! Use Psychic!"

He felt himself come to an abrupt and jerking halt. Opening one eye, he noticed the faint green glow of the move surrounding him. Opening the other, he spotted the dirt feet away, seeming to glare up at him. Once again, he'd somehow cheated death.

"Thank you, Gardevoir!"

The move disappeared and Hasent dropped lightly to the ground, turning to stare up at Takito who looked disgusted that he hadn't been killed.

"Diantha," Hasent gasped, nodding his thanks to the Champion.

"Hasent," Diantha responded, running up behind her Pokemon partner. "Or is it Clemont?"

"I'm...not really sure myself," Hasent responded with a shrug. "I don't suppose it makes much difference now. Thank you for protecting Bonnie and the others."

"Anytime! And besides," Diantha winked. "It looked like you could use the help."

As she spoke, Ash let out a command behind them and Pikachu let loose an illuminating Thunderbolt. This was quickly followed up by a Fire Blast from Braixen and a Discharge from Luxray.
