"How much looonnnggger?" Bonnie complained, scuffing her feet tiredly behind the others. "I'm soooo tiiirrreed."
"It shouldn't be too much longer," Clemont replied, reading his town map. "And I told you that you should have calmed down when we stopped for lunch. It's your own fault you're so tired now."
Bonnie glared up at him while he remained oblivious. She looked down jealously at Dedenne who was sound asleep in her bag. She groaned, possibly realizing that her brother had been right, not that she would ever tell him that.
"Hey, Bonnie, how about you ride on Luxray's back?" Ash suggested from his place at Serena's side.
"That's a great idea!" Clemont agreed, pulling out a poke ball. "Luxray, come on out!"
The huge blue and black lion-like pokemon appeared in a flash of blue light. Its yellow eyes gleamed contently as Bonnie darted over to it, and, laughing, scrambled up onto its back. "Lux...luxray!" the pokemon roared, leaping into a sprint and taking off past Professor Sycamore who leaped out of the way, shocked, but unable to hold back a chuckle as he stuffed his hands further into his lab coat.
They walked quietly for another hour or so before they finally decided to take a break next to a fast-flowing creek. Ash had gone off to do some training with his Pokémon, Clemont had taken Bonnie down to the water to play, and Serena had called out Braixen, Pancham, and Sylveon to practice some dance steps.
Professor Sycamore sat alone on a boulder, watching them all play and have a good time. His eyes were saddened though as though he knew that their fun would not last much longer. His Xtranseiver began to ring and he hastily stood up to answer it. As he pushed a button, an image of a young woman with long blond hair and demandingly sharp eyes appeared before him.
"Elizabeth," the Professor greeted her. "What a surprise! I didn't expect to be hearing from you! How may I be of service?"
"Professor Sycamore," came Elizabeth's exasperated voice. "You know exactly why I am calling so what do you say we cut the formalities and get straight to it? You know Takito has awoken and he's coming back."
Sycamore grinned weakly. "Was that a question?"
"It was not," Elizabeth snapped. "And furthermore, you have taken Hasent out of the only place in the entire region where he could be safe! I think you need to explain yourself!"
"Hasent won't be safe anywhere until Takito is dealt with," the Professor reminded her. "He has to face his brother on his own terms, with or without his memory. I'm sorry that I can't do more to help him remember his past...and you...but for now, this is the best any of us can do."
"NO!" Elizabeth yelled. "It's not good enough! I loved him, Professor! I still do! You can't let him face Takito! They'll kill each other!"
"That's exactly what I am trying to prevent!" Professor Sycamore protested. "I'm not the one eager to see him rush back into battle either. Don't worry, Hasent is just fine. I promise."
Elizabeth sighed, possibly realizing she wasn't going to win this argument. "You're the pokemon professor, so you know best, I suppose. But, please, Professor, at least let me join you! I know Hasent and I think I can be of some help to you!"
Professor Sycamore hesitated. "Are you sure?" he asked. "There is no guarantee that he will have any recollection of who you are..."
"It doesn't matter," she cut him off. "I still love him."
"I see..." Professor Sycamore trailed off. "Well, if you are sure then..."
"I am. Very."
