"Don't go."

The faint whisper of a voice echoed in the blackness, as soft as the wind passing between the trees. It was all around, like the rushing of water in a river, unobtainable but yet, always present.

"Don't leave me."

It came a second time, sounding more desperate, even regretful. But still, its location--and more importantly, its owner--was still nowhere to be seen. It was like a ghost, untraceable, but yet, somehow, it felt as though he should have been able to find it-- like it was calling to him in a way.

"I...I love you."

He heard the whisper as though it had been thunder. But again, where was it coming from? He could see nothing, nothing other than the sheer darkness of his dream. He knew it was a dream. It had to be. Which meant that he should have been able to wake up.

So why couldn't he?

Something exploded behind him and he whipped around to see a white smog snake up through the black trees. What was that? he wondered. Was anyone hurt? He began jogging slowly towards the sight of the explosion. As he ran, the world began to mold around him. He recognized the streets of Lumiose City as he charged toward its center.

And that's when he saw it.

The eruption.

It had been Prism Tower.

"NO!" he heard himself shriek, staring at the remains of Kalos's greatest icon. "No, no, no, no, no!"

An inhuman scream pierced his mind and he twirled around to see a huge black figure with burning red eyes glaring at him from the shadows. With a startled cry, he fell backward, landing painfully on the concrete sidewalk, staring up at the beast in terror. It was not a Pokemon, at least, not one that he had ever heard of.

It snarled at him, fangs glowing with fire. It took one thunderous step forwards, and then another, its eyes never leaving his. There was a burning hatred there, a hatred that ran deep. It reared up when it was right over the top of him and, with a hiss, brought its claws swinging down...

"Clemont! Clemont? Clemont, wake up already!"

Clemont jerked awake at the sound of Bonnie's impatient voice. He let out a surprised yell and toppled out of bed, ending up ungracefully on the floor before her. He squinted, looking up through the blurredness, and recognized the faint blond-haired outline of his little sister.

"Bonnie!" he scolded, gathering himself up and feeling around for his nightstand where he'd left his glasses. "Don't do that!"

"Why?" Bonnie asked slyly. "Did I scare you?"

Clemont gripped the table and, finding his glasses, shoved them on to glare down at her. "No," he said through gritted teeth. Of course, he would never admit that she actually had scared him. "What do you want?"

"Dad sent us to wake you up," Bonnie replied. "You slept half the morning away, big brother. Or had you forgotten that Ash and Serena are coming to visit today?"

"Ash...Serena?" Clemont mumbled, still half asleep.

"Yeah, you know. Your friends? We only spent like...I don't know...forever...traveling the region with them. Ring any bells?"

"Yeah, yeah, right." Clemont looked longingly at his bed. Could he get five more minutes?

"He's not paying us any attention," Bonnie groaned. "Dedenne, would you please?"
