It was your last year of undergrad at Spooky University. And this year, you wanted to do something different.
Which was to join a fun club and actually stick to it.
There was an overwhelming amount of organizations and clubs that the university had, there were hundreds of them, and all of them were led by students.
But there was one club that applied more to your interest. The Cooking and Baking Club.
The club had a callout meeting date, like what many other clubs had during the first few weeks of school, and you decided to muster up all the courage you had and go to that meeting.
Social anxiety be damned.
Right after your last lecture of the day, you walked to where the callout meeting was being held. Looking down at your phone, you made sure to double-check the photo you took of the flyer.
You felt nervous, you didn't really think of yourself as a chef or a baker. You were a novice, an amateur. But you talked yourself down, this was supposed to be fun! It's not like you were getting graded on how well you could cook and bake.
Entering a large building, you traversed through the halls, took some flight of stairs, and walked up to a door that led to a large classroom.
You took in a deep breath and walked in. There was already a handful of people. They were a bit spread out, sitting at different round tables, sticking together with their friend group.
In the back corner, there was a small group of people huddled around a computer. Most likely, they were the ones who organized the club.
Your eyes scanned the area and spotted the closest empty table. You made your way over and took a seat on the blue plastic chair with wheels. Better than the ones without, that's for sure.
Not too long, there was a sound of a clap and a girl speaking. "Hey, everyone! We're about to get started."
A PowerPoint came up on the many large projector screens around the room. Before they were about to begin, someone walked into the room. They took large heavy strides toward the group of people in the corner.
"Hey, y'all. Sorry, I'm late!"
You immediately noticed that southern drawl the guy had accompanied by a pretty deep voice. He had dark hair, looked fairly tall, and was big in stature. He looked to have more meat on him rather than muscle though.
There was some ruckus of excitement and happy shouts.
"Bob!"
"Aye! Glad you could make it, buddy!"
"We're just about to start!"
"Great!" Bob nodded as he placed his duffle bag along with his school bag on the floor. He then looked up and out to the people sitting at the tables.
"Hey ya, everyone! My names Bob Velseb. And I am the president of SU's Cooking and Baking Club. Uh, you may know me as the linebacker on the football team. Number 92. And uhm, they also call me the Defensive Teddy Bear, so there's that."
There were chuckles and giggles. You couldn't help but join in with them.
Bob continued with a smile, "I'm a senior, studying Culinary Arts with a minor in Hospitality Management. Someday, I would like to open my own restaurant! Uhm, oh, some of my hobbies are playin' football, hangin' out with my buddies, eatin', and cookin'- obviously. Now, I'mma, let my officers introduce themselves!"
