Finnick's pov

Last night was fun. Daph letting her guard down and being herself for the first time in forever. I wake up first this morning. Daphne's snuggled up next to me her face looking at peace. Her lips parted the slightest breathing. Her skin growing more pale than it was in her first capital interview. A dusting of freckles still visible.

I notice some scars on the side of her head. Very faint even if her skin was its normal complexion. I know it's from the monkeys back in the arena. Did the capital just not care enough to heal them for her like they have before? I look at the marks on her arms. Full of bruises and burn scabs. At least the burns are healing.

I know District 13 want's us to marry before they send us out for the war. As much as I would love more than anything to marry her we both made a deal when we were younger that we wouldn't get married until things changed. Things ARE changing. But not quick enough.

I feel Daphne stir a little. I place a kiss to her temple. "Did I keep you up?" She asks. "No I just woke up a few minutes ago." She nods still looking guilty. "I'm so-" "Stop. Remember the deal?" "I know b-" "Nope." "Fin-" "Ah." "Can you stop doing that?" "Can you stop apologizing?" She sighs. "Fine." "You ready for breakfast?"

Daphne's pov

I still feel so freaking guilty about last night and the night before. I keep waking him up. He probably slept so much better without me here. Maybe I should be in the hospital with Johanna and Peeta. It'd give Finnick some sleep.

I get out of bed and shower quickly after Finnick. He's buttoning up his shirt in the mirror when I finish. He applies the burn medicine again. My burns now scabs. That's a good sign I guess. Finnick places a kiss on my lips before we walk out of the door. Our hands intertwined as we walk to the cafeteria.

"What's on your mind?" He asks. I don't know how to answer. Like oh nothing just thinking about how much easier your life would be if I actually stayed in the hospital like I was supposed to. "Pigeon." He nudges me. "Are you sure you don't care for me sleeping in your room instead of the hospital? Like I keep waking you up. You shouldn't have to take care of me."

He stops and turns to face me.

"I wouldn't want you to be anywhere else than with me. You waking me up in the middle of the night does not bother me in the least. I would take a thousand nights of you waking me up over a thousand nights without you right next to me. Pigeon my job is to take care of you. I would not trade any of that for the world." "You really mean that?" "With everything inside me."

We live the exact way today much like yesterday. Breakfast, Johanna, Peeta, Lunch, Johanna and Mags, room, dinner, sleep. Today they didn't have me go in there with Peeta. They say he's doing okay. He still doesn't like Katniss but he hasn't lashed out today.

"This place is kinda boring." I say my legs on Finnick's lap as I lay on my back sideways on the bed. "Why do you say that?" "There's no beach, we don't go outside like honestly when was the last time either of us have seen the sun like that cannot be healthy, there's like no books. Back in four you know what we'd be doing right now? Laying on the couch pretty much in this exact same position. I'd be reading a nice book and you'd be tying some knots or doing some kind of word search."

I laugh to myself. "What?" He asks with a smile on his face. "We have the same hobbies as old people." Finnick starts laughing too. "You're not wrong, but we were raised by Mags."

I move my legs off his back and crawl up to him resting my head in the crook of his neck. He turns his head to me placing a kiss on my head. "Thank you." "For what my love?" I could squeal when he says that. "For being here through everything." "It's my job." "You need a raise." He chuckles. I put my arm over him his arm over me. Our noses touching. I feel his breath against my lips. My cheeks heat up. "You're blushing." "How did you know?" "Sixth sense."
