Chapter 21 ~so we're dead~

I still can't believe we lost Boggs. I don't think this team will be okay without him. I'm sure Jackson's a fine person but she's not a good leader. I think she thinks it's her on top and everyone else is nothing. It's her way or no way, and she doesn't seem like the type to always make the right calls.

"Gamemakers are still putting quite the show." Cressida says. Tell me about it honestly. Jackson's trying to work her radio or something. I guess to let Coin know we're alive but Boggs is gone. "Our radio communicators went dead almost immediately. Probably from the electromagnetic pulse device. But I'll get us back to camp. Give me the holo." She reaches for the unit but Katniss holds it close to her chest. Finnick and I exchange glances. What was that? 

"No, Boggs gave it to me." "Don't be ridiculous." I'm confused. But clearly Katniss knows something we don't so I trust her here. "It's true." Homes says. "He transferred the prime security clearance to her while he was dying I saw it." "Why would he do that?" Girl you're just as confused as the rest of us. "Because I'm on a special mission for President Coin. I think Boggs was the only one who knew about it." Liar, but clever tactic. "To do what?" "To assassinate President Snow before the loss of life from this war makes our population unsustainable." "I don't believe you. As your current commander, I order you to transfer the prime security clearance over to me." "No. That would be in direct violation of President Coins orders."

Oh my gosh. Jackson looks threatening. As if she could kill Katniss at any minute. Just as suspected she takes her gun out. I take out a knife pointing it at her. I notice others raise their guns at her after.

Cressida starts to speak up. "It's true. That's why we're here. Plutarch wants it televised. He thinks if we can film the Mockingjay assassinating Snow, it will end the war. Jackson pauses taken aback clearly. She points her gun at Peeta. Not like she's going to shoot him. "Then why is he here?" Without missing a beat Cressida responds. "Because the two post Games interviews with Caesar Flickerman were shot in President Snows personal quarters. Plutarch thinks Peeta may be of some use as a guide in a location we have little knowledge of."

She had a good try but we all know Plutarch isn't stupid enough to send Peeta for that reason. Coin put him here to try and get him to go insane and kill Katniss and it's not going to work as long as we have anything to do with it.

"We have to go! I'm following Katniss if you don't want to, head back to camp. But lets move!" Gale says. By this time Peeta is starting to wake up. I put my knife back in my belt and walk over to him. "Hey you're okay right?" He looks confused at first but when he looks around the room his eyes soften with guilt as if the real Peeta took back over and remembered what the hijacked Peeta did. He does nothing but nod. Finnick helps him up. "Lead on, Solider Everdeen." He says. She gives a grateful smile to us before turning to Jackson.

"I don't know how to use this. Boggs said you would help me. He said I could count on you." I almost smile trying not to laugh. Suck up much Kat? "If we go out the kitchen door, there's a small courtyard, then the backside of another corner apartment unit. We're looking at an over-view of the four streets that meet at the intersection." At least she has the decency to help. Or maybe she's leading us to death. It's like a coin toss. HA Coin toss. Coin. President Coin. Okay yeah never mind.

"Put on your masks. We're going out the way we came in." Leeg 2 stays here so she doesn't slow us down. It's okay Jackson's required to call for her some help once we get to a cover ground. "If the wave was that powerful, then it may have triggered and absorbed other pods in our path." Katniss says.

Pollux (A guy I've come to find out used to be an avox so he's now mute.) signs. "It may have disabled the cameras as well." I translate. Castor gives me a confused look. "It's not corrosive. I think it was meant to either suffocate or poison us." "Probably our best shot." Leeg one says. Finnick adjusts Peeta's mask for him.
