40. Strut

Rhae liked watching Taelon train. Thorin liked it too. Rhae looked to Thorin as he punched at the air kicking and trying to mimic Taelon.

Taelon twisted out of the way, rolled, hit Harwin in the knees with the staff, and watched him stagger back.

"Come on Harwin give me a challenge." Taelon requested with a chuckle.

"Kick his ass brother!" Tommen declared. "And by brother I do mean Taelon." Tommen clarified.

"Trust me. I know." Harwin assured. Taelon motioned for Harwin to come at him.

Harwin got his footing before charging forward. Harwin and Taelon were both tall but where Harwin was thick and wide, Taelon was lean and muscled.

"They are quite excellent." Alicent remarked coming up behind Rhae.

"Yes, they are." She agreed. "Your grace." Rhae added quickly.

"Taelon really loves you. It's... it's really nice. I'm happy for you two."

"Thank you, your grace."

"Alicent." She corrected. "Since you are living here, married to my now son-" Alicent went on awkwardly. "-I was hoping maybe we could be friends?" she offered hopefully.

"I would like that." Rhae agreed. "your gra-Alicent."  Alicent smiled back at her happily. She didnt need RHaenyra, she could make other friends. Added bonus of seeing Taelon more if she was spending more time with Rhae. Rhae chuckled practically seeing hearts in Alicent's eyes as Taelon whipped off his shirt. Thorin tried to copy him tugging at his shirt.

"Mama help!" Thorin requested as he lifted his arms up. "I want to be like daddy!" Rhae knelt before him.

"I worry about when you grow up and women throw themselves at you like im sure they did with your daddy." Rhae countered.

"I be cool." Thorin corrected. "Girls are icky."

"Your daddy got all hot and sweaty." Rhae remarked.

"I'm hot." Thorin offered. Rhae chuckled pulling off his shirt. Thorin strut forward.

"Adorable." Rhae said as Thorin slung his shirt over his shoulder as he moved to Taelon.

"Look at you big man!" Taelon declared. "Let me see those muscles!'' Thorin dropped the shirt and lifted his arms up. "Woah, Harwin be careful he will be a force in no time." Harwin ran a hand over his face.

"Careful Alicent you are drooling." Rhae teased and Alicent blushed looking down to her feet. "I get it. Trust me. I get it." Rhae assured her.

"You are just so lucky." Alicent whispered.

"Yes, I married a man that stayed far, far, away from me for nine years. Taelon came and changed my life for the better. Got my marriage annuled, and now im here and couldnt be happier." Rhae agreed.

"What was it like? Before I mean. When you were married and he wasnt there." Alicent asked.

"Strange. Wonderful. I was mad at first but then I was glad. I got to live my life still. I wasnt being controlled I wasnt in a prison. I was free to live my life as I wanted for nine years..." rhae informed her.

"I heard that prince Daemon said some... unkind things about you." Alicent recalled gently.

"Yes I heard them as well. Our sheep are quite beautiful." Rhae agreed and alicent felt bad for bringing it up.

"I just meant that Daemon... he wasnt a kind man to you. Im sorry. You deserved better."

"I got better." Rhae agreed. "I got the best. Taelon is a man I never could have dreamed of having in my life." Alicent sighed looking to the boys. aegon crawled desperately after Thorin trying to be like him.

"The king isn't your dream man is he..." rhae offered softly.

"He is kind." Alicent offered. "But hes no Taelon." Alicent agreed.

"The king... I havent seen a lot of him. Is he alright?"

"Yes. He... yes." Alicent agreed softly.

"Talk to me." Rhae requested leading her away from the courtyard. "Whats wrong?"

"Im pregnant." Alicent whispered as she closed her chamber door.

"The king must be thrilled." Rhae offered seeing her pinched face. "You were 15 when you were wed." Rhae recalled. Alicent nodded. "To an older man. To your best friends father. Your life turned upside down. You probably felt all alone." Alicent nodded just slightly. "I noticed you dont spend a lot of time with Aegon." Rhae added gently.

"Its hard." Alicent agreed.

"You had a bedding didnt you..." alicent nodded. "That must have been scary." Rhae remarked and again she nodded. "Its not a pleasurable experience."

"He does the deed and then its over and I lay there staring at the ceiling for hours." Alicent whispered. "I dont hate him." Alicent added quickly. "He is just doing his duty as I am to do mine... as his... queen."

"Can I hug you? I think you need a hug." Rhae offered and alicent nodded hugging her.

"You are the sweetest person ever." Alicent whispered. "I can see why Taelon loves you."

"Taelon you should have seen her." Rhae whispered leaning into him.

"I dont know." Rhae admitted. "Shes just a scared girl. Pregnant by a man she doesnt love. Its almost rape." Taelon stared back at her. "Im not calling your father a-" rhae stopped herself. "I didnt mean it like that." She whispered.

"As long as father knows that Alicent is pregnant she wont touch her. He did his duty and she has-"

"Nine moons before another mounting?" Rhae offered. "Are you going to stop touching me once Im pregnant?" Rhae countered. "Will I disgust you? When you do you duty thats the end of our love life?"

"I was speaking of my father. I on the other hand will devour you before and after possibly during if you want." Taelon corrected pulling her closer. "I love you."
