Jisoo
A week later.
Weekends should be fun. Just how I usually planned it. A whole day of submerging myself on bed to rest not my body but my brains especially now with this mind boggling serial crime case we were trying solve, make some personal errands, and go to my favorite bar at night to drown myself with alcohol. Moderate drinking I mean. That's been my cycle for years. Sleeping. Errands. Drinking. Except for unexpected call duties which rarely happened on Juvenile Crimes Division.
But maybe the skies had different plans on me this weekend.
A message notification made my eyes flutter slowly. It was nearly dusk.
Get up. I'll pick you up in an hour. And dress nicely.
I chuckled and typed my response. Another spam message.
Wrong sent.
I don't have a boyfriend. Who's gonna pick me up this late in the afternoon. Maybe I was half asleep yet, unsure of what I just read, I slid my phone beneath my pillow, only to be disturbed by another notification.
Jisoo Kim, my pretty inspector in Crimes Division. Get up now. Your annoying Senior Inspector will be waiting at your gate in an hour. Again, dress nicely. I know you are already pretty whatever it is that you are wearing but make sure you are extra prettier tonight.
One hour, move your ass.
As if a bucket of ice was thrown on my sleeping state, my body bounced from the bed, making me re-read the message.
Pretty. He mentioned it twice and I smiled unconsciously.
Are you crazy Jisoo Kim? Why are you even smiling?!
I slapped my face with both my hands. I am dreaming. I told myself.
Is he now invading even in my dreams?
And then another message popped out on the screen.
Dress as if we are going on a date.
I quickly typed my answer.
How did you get my number?
My response was totally out of the blue, but it piqued my curiosity.
There's such thing as database on the police system Kimmy. You may need to read the rule book to refresh your mind. Plus your number is publicly displayed in Skype. Don't make it sound like I am a weird stalker. I could sense you are still on bed. Get up. Now.
How could he sound condescending, commanding, annoying, irritating in a text message when supposed to be a message should be emotionless. And does he have a split personality? Being kind to me one day, being jerk the next day. Yeah, he was kind the last time, and he was an annoying jerk today.
I flipped my body as I typed my message angrily, like I am talking to a lunatic debt collector.
Why would I doll up for you? And a date? Keep dreaming.
I throw my phone frustratingly. Another beep notification. I blatantly ignored it knowing its him.
One. Two. Three. My foot curled and tapped impatiently at my mattress.
Ten minutes. Okay, I'll read.
As if we are going on a date. I did not say date. We are going to Namwon. Cutting it to thirty minutes, or I'll go alone and meet Smith. I just knew well you are cramming to get yourself under the shower right now and mentally thinking of what to wear. I am not in a so good mood today Kim. You knew well I can leave you and go alone. Not my loss.
