Day 20, D-21

Haein

Honey.

It was like a bomb exploded right before my ears.

***

I don't know how I made it so fast to the basement parking lot upon hearing the code from her. A guard was assisting her as she leaned on one of the cars there, she was shaking and trembling, and just right before she collapsed, I got her.

I panickily inspected her body for any injuries; her wrists had finger marks, an evidence of a tightened grip for it to leave a mark, then there's blood dripping down her legs. I immediately checked it and there's a laceration on her mid thigh probably caused by a knife or a dagger.

Why did she collapsed though?

I informed the roving guard that I'm her husband, showing him my card to prove it since he looked at me in full suspiscion, which I fully appreciated since it means he was on his toes not to trust her with me instantly. I advised the guard to secure the CCTV footages for me and help me file a police report.

We had to make a report or else it would look suspicious if we won't. I'll just let Senior Superintendent Song handle it.

The guard agreed to cooperate and just before I laid Kim's body inside the truck, few staff of the shopping center came, including some security personnel. Though her wounds were not critical, she's still unconscious, so I only make a quick instruction to them and gave out my calling card, Chef H as Hanz Lee. I'll still bring her to the hospital just to be sure.

The nearest hospital was just ten minutes away from the shopping center, and I went straight to the emergency room, medical personnel quickly assisted us. I stayed outside as advised, waiting for updates. A nurse approached me to fill out additional information of her on top of the initial I provided earlier, and then a doctor came to me minutes after.

"You're Mrs. Lee's husband?" The doctor asked.

"Yes doctor."

"I am Doctor Nam, a resident. Your wife wants to see you."

I suddenly felt nervous.

"How is she doc?"

She walked with me towards the emergency room.

"She's okay, we're just doing some additional tests on her but she looked dehydrated so we inserted IV fluids. She's actually awake just few minutes after you stepped out so I was able to ask few questions to her before we gave few medications for her wound."

We reached Kim's hospital bed, and she was lying down, eyes closed. Feeling our presence, her eyes fluttered open, and I could see anxiousness on them.

"I'll retrieve her blood test results and get back here for further instructions. I'll leave you two alone."

She stepped out and pulled the hospital curtains closed, giving us privacy. The moment I sat at the bedside, Kim scooted closer, and I pulled her the closest as possible that I could do.

I was just dead silent, but my palms were twitching hard.

"I was scared Haein." She whispered, low enough for me to barely hear. "I wanted to fight hard, but I wanted to be extra careful. For--"

She trailed off her words, and I pulled away to look at her.

"For what?"

"You really don't have an idea?" She asked.

I shook my head, really clueless of what she's telling me.

"That I could be really pregnant. There was a faint second red line last week. We were about to repeat my test this weekend."
