Day 28, D-13

Jisoo

A week after the shopping center incident.

We were invited at the police station to identify the victim since the shopping center guard also pointed him out as the person who attacked me based on his clothes that night. He had a bucket hat and a mask on so we weren't exactly sure if it was him exactly, but the motorcycle used when he fled that was captured in the CCTV was found near the crime scene.

It was somehow nerve wracking. The person who attacked me at the shopping center was dead. Or maybe someone set it up to look like it was him who attacked me, then it was already case closed.

But there was something odd about it.

Who killed him?

The person was identified as a "wanted criminal", known for several robbery crimes and illegal doings outside Jeju City. The crimes division were ruling out a revenge crime since they found a note in his jacket pocket about syndicate swindling. Surprisingly, I was just randomly chosen to be attacked that day.

What an uncanny coincidence.

Jung and I still believed it is connected to the killer to terrorize me. On why he was terrorizing me, we don't know why. On how he lured him to attack me, we also don't know why.

Maybe I was wrong and Eugene might probably be right. The only plausible reason for this is that the killer had a twisted mindset, setting up things to further mislead us. Then she's right it couldn't be someone from the police force.

Thanatos and Death.

What do they have something in common?

And on top of all those mind games we were having with the killer, there's one more situation we were facing.

There's Halmeoni confusing both Jung and I.

After that day she left our house in panic, she's coming back everyday, keeping tabs on me. Jung took a complete week of leave from the store reasoning out my terrible morning sickness. It wasn't a even a lie because I am having an entire week of horrible morning sickness courtesy of our little baby. Chef Sam of course understood, doing all the orders placed online for the entire week, Dong-goo had no questions or reactions. We dropped by at the store midweek when we went back to the shopping center to coordinate with the security and pick up our supplies which we failed to do during my attack.

This is the seventh day Halmeoni Martha is visiting us, and everyday, Jung is making our "health check" of scanning the house making sure no hidden cameras or bugging device was installed. So far, Halmeoni is pretty much "clean."

The killer was also silent after that day.

No Thanatos message to the store, no bloody notes on our mailbox, no attacks.

It was so suspiciously calm.

Jung had to report to the store today after a week of staying with me at home. I know he's adamant to leave me now more than ever, but he had to. As I repeatedly told him, in no fucking way I will let myself hurt by anyone without giving a fight.

He was preparing himself upstairs and I stayed downstairs, waiting for him to come down.

I can't help but stare at our big wedding portrait while waiting. We haven't talk about when are we going to get married but he promised we will after the mission.

"Are you hesitating to marry me?" A teasing tone interrupted me on my thoughts.

"You wish." I answered as I glared back at him.
