We celebrated the New Year two weeks ago, and my mother was rushing Ivor and Runova to start their engagement party. The citizens were anticipating for the event, but Ivor had been pushing it back, always excusing how work overtook him. My grandfather was arriving in a few days, and Ivor would have no excuse then.

Clara pulled me outside to decorate the yard. Car balloons were blown up and tied to the poles as they floated in the air. A celebratory banner was in sky blue with car images on the sides. Violet and Rueben set up the food table that was lined up with different pastries and snacks. A huge event for one little person.

I waited outside as Clara grabbed our son from his room. They held hands, swinging back and forth as she led him to the area. His eyes widened, his head turning around to observe the entire place. I went over to them and stood beside Clara.

"Happy Birthday, Xander," Clara smiled widely. "Do you like the decorations? Mummy and Daddy did all of this for you."

He was jumping up and down, full of enthusiasm. The corner of my lips tilted when I spotted the excitement from his face. It was my first time to celebrate his birthday. It was late but not too late where I missed his entire life.

I carried Xander in my arms, and he suddenly embraced me. I stilled when his arms tightened around my neck. My hand remained in the air then patted down on his back. I owned Clara the world, but I owned him the most. He was the most innocent person.

"Happy Birthday," I murmured.

"Thank you, Daddy," he kissed my cheek then reached over to do the same for Clara. "Thank you Mummy. I love both of you very much."

"Mummy and Daddy loves you too, baby," Clara brushed his strands away from his face.

The guests slowly arrived to our place, and Rueben guided them out to the backyard. Xander remained with me the entire time as I followed Clara. She was greeting the guests, the true hostess to the show. She was fucking born to be part of royalty even if my grandfather disagreed with her background.

My parents came with King Basin and his family. Ivor was nowhere to be seen. I thought he would be coming with them, but it was no surprise he switched, and it was more clear where he was heading.

"Happy Birthday, my dearest," my mother took Xander from me, kissing him deeply on his cheek. "Grandma and grandpa brought huge presents for you."

"Thank you," he replied, embracing her back.

My parents took Xander around to speak with guests. Rueben bought the large wrapped box, a present that I ordered online for Xander. Clara stood there, observing it from top to bottom then turning around to look at me. She blinked and pointed at the present.

"What is that?" Clara questioned, somewhat terrified at the size.

"Wait for it," I interlaced my hand with hers and pulled her to the front.

We stood behind the table where three cake were placed out in a row. It was designed and made by the best bakery in our city. Clara had the largest event for our son because she wanted to make up the time when he didn't have the gender reveal party.

People sang the birthday song to him. People clapped at the end, and I glued my mouth shut, my hands in my pockets. Xander blew out the candles after making a wish. I stared at my son who turned around and jumped up and down. He held Clara and my hand, and we walked to open presents.

He was gifted with tons of clothes from the top brands. Jo and Abbas were still on their honeymoon, but they sent their gifts beforehand. They gave him an easel that was double sided. One was for painting. The other was a chalkboard.
