Clara
I tucked my white blouse into my black leather skirt. Slipping on my nude pumps, I adjusted my clothes, straightening the creases to make sure the outfit was perfect. I suddenly felt Hayden wrapped his arms around me from behind. He matched me with his white dress shirt and black dress pants. It was starting to become our little habit.
"How do you always look so handsome?" I questioned, staring in the mirror. His hair was styled back, loose with some strands falling to his face.
"It's in my blood," he said arrogantly.
I expected a shameless answer from him, but he still made me laugh because I loved how he had never shown less confident in front of me.
"It's time to head to your parents," I stated, taking my purse. "Let's go."
He pulled me back, and I turned my head behind to look at him. He furrowed his brows like he saw something he didn't like.
"What's wrong?" I asked him.
"Wait a minute," he seated me back down on the ottoman. He went to my shoe shelf and grabbed a pair of white sneakers. Squatting down in front of me, he removed my heels and put on my sneakers instead. "You're not leaving this place with those."
"I can't walk out with sneakers, Hayden. We're seeing your relatives, and mother is strict on formalities. It's disrespectful if I went out like this," I explained, watching him easily placed my heels back on the top shelf.
"I don't give a fuck what they think."
I smiled, not bothering to go against him. Hayden prioritized my safety ever since I came back. He would still protect me regardless if I was pregnant or not. I knew he had good intentions that could prevent a lot of mistakes from happening.
Hayden and I left to have dinner with his relatives. We kept Xander and Damien with my parents since they could get bored at the event. My parents didn't have much time with their grandchildren, and I decided to have their grandsons around. They were instantly pleased with the idea, no objecting to babysit.
Charlotte led us to the dining room. Hayden and I interlaced hands, walking down the hallway as he complained quietly to me. He despised meeting with other relatives because they talked about nonsense.
As soon as everyone came, we started enjoying the Greek food that the chefs made. I skipped the wine and asked for fruit punch instead. The sweet fruity taste lingered over my tongue before I stuffed my mouth with moussaka.
"Is this your third pregnancy, Clara?" Aunt Lucy wondered, sipping her wine. We told our relatives the news of me being pregnant, only to not hide any secrets.
I hummed in response and sent her a warm smile.
"That's so sweet," she cooed, exchanging a pleased expression with my mother-in-law. "The family is growing now. You're very lucky, Clara. Many women waited years to have a son in the family. Here you are with two already. Hopefully, a third one will come soon."
"I actually think it's a blessing to have kids no matter what the gender is. Hayden and I want a daughter for our family though," I glanced over at Hayden. He had the agreement in his eyes, clearly satisfied with my answer.
"A daughter will come soon. I bet she'll inherit your beautiful genetics."
"Thank you, Aunt Lucy."
We chatted around a bit, but I noticed how the relatives focused more on me instead of Rosie. Hayden told me that his relatives were very materialistic, and I could sense that they preferred status over anything else. I disliked how different they treated Rosie. She was still a duchess and should be respected too.
