MARLEY YEAR 853
╚══ ❀•°❀°•❀ ══╝"I'm sorry you had to go through that", Kiymoi apologized as Onyonkapon shared with her the events of today, "With improvements in blood testing technology, countries are beginning to discover that Subjects of Ymir have been able to sneak out of the internment zones and blend into the wider population."
That's a bit excessive...
"The bloodline of Ymir made it's way across Eldian territory when the empire was at the height of its power, and for many centuries, the ability to trace ones lineage back to a Subject of Ymir served as proof of the noble status among the global elite", She continued, "But as the Empire crumbled, the aristocrats who'd been aligned with Eldia quickly found themselves exiled."
She kept her chin held high, but her face fell slightly as she tried to approach the situation delicately, "Today, you witnessed the way Eldians are treated beyond the walls. In light of that, I'm sure you can see how difficult it will be to convince the world to engage with the people of Paradis on friendly terms."
It was quiet for a moment as everyone let the truth sink in before Armin spoke up, "Even so, If we give up on pursuing peace at this point, our only remaining option will be to throw in with Zeke and his conspiracy. We would be leaving our fates entirely up to him."
"I don't know about you guys but I still don't trust that guy", You grunted, "Even if going about it this way has a one in a thousand chances of working I'd rather place my bets on this then relying on Zeke to fix the problem. And on top of that we would be sacrificing Historia's life, and the lives of her children if we gave up now."
"That's right", Hange muttered in agreement, "We're looking for a way to avoid such a future, and our speech brought us to Marley. This "Subject of Ymir Protection Group" will be debuting at the international forum tomorrow. They may be able to help."
"It's possible", Kiymoi cut in cautiously, "Though I would advise against assuming your goals and theirs are in alignment."
"We're not", Hange reassured, "And we won't make contact until we've had a chance to observe them. If they show promise and agree to hold a meeting with us, they can help us get our message out into the world."
"You've come to make it known that the people of Paradis wish to coexist in peace?", Kiymoi questioned, almost as if she were in shock over the situation Hange wished to pursue.
"Yes."
With no further argument her shoulders sunk, "Rest assured, the Azumabito clan will happily aid you in pursuing said goal", She promised, "But...I must wonder how realistic you've been in assessing your odds of success."
"We understand how slim our chances are even if we do everything right", You answered simply.
"And we'll most likely be in constant danger once our message has spread...but still, we at least have to try", Hange nodded along, "As long as theres a chance, it's our duty to take it."
"Far be it from me to tell you otherwise", Kiyomi ended, before a light gasp erupted from Mikasa, causing the group to turn their attention to her.
"What's wrong", You questioned with concern.
"Eren", She spoke softly, "He's gone."
Turning your attention to where he was standing only moments ago, you found the space unoccupied. "Dammit", You heard Levi hiss, "I told him to stay with the group."
You pushed off from the wall you were leaning on, "Lets calm down", You spoke, "I'll go look for him."
"It's not safe for you to go off on your own", Hange warned.
