PARADIS YEAR 853
└───❀*̥˚───❀*̥˚┘"You really didn't have to agree to this", Jean stressed as he held onto your hands.
"Oh c'mon it's not like it's the end of the world", You chuckled, finding his sudden attitude amusing.
"It's close", He muttered under his breath.
"We're just having lunch with your mother", You argued with a grin, "You're so over dramatic."
"It's just", He sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose in annoyance, "You know how she's like."
"She's sweet", You defended, bringing your hand to knock on the front door.
"Shes too much sometimes", He corrected, waiting anxiously as his mom opened the door with a welcoming smile.
"You're here just in time", She exclaimed, grabbing a hold of your arm to pull you into a strong hug, "Oh sweetie I swear you get more beautiful everytime I see you."
Your face heated at the compliment, "Thank you", You whispered respectfully before pulling back so Jean could step forward.
"There's my boy", She cooed, making an embarrassed groan escape his lips.
"Mom", He warned, only causing you to snicker as he sent you a glare, "Can you not."
"Oh c'mon", She reasoned, "Doesn't matter how big you get you'll still be my baby."
"Yeah Jean", You grinned, "You're just her little baby."
His mothers back was turned away from you, giving him the perfect opportunity to swipe his hand in your direction, "watch yourself", He mouthed as you flicked your hand up at him before walking further into the house.
"When I received that letter from you guys I just couldn't believe it", She spoke, backing away from her son as she lead you both to the living room, "You've been busy for a while now, I was starting to get worried."
"It's not good for you to worry like that", Jean chastised, "I told you that we're fine and to not trouble yourself with what we're doing."
"I know", She sighed, "But with news about those Marleyan deserters, its just a lot to take in."
"Mom don't listen to the rumors", He frowned, "It's confidential information anyway."
"Well I can't help if the ladies from my group speak on such matters", She defended, "But if it's true I just hope you guys are being safe."
"Always", You grinned, "We're handling it, so there's no need to worry."
"I'll always worry", She argued, "I'm a mom after all—It's my job."
"Well mom we actually didn't come over to talk about the scouts", Jean cut in, pulling her attention away from you, "We've got some pretty big news ourselves", He teased, looking in your direction with a smile.
Her head tilted in question, watching as you both shared similar expression, "Is everything okay?"
"Everything's perfect", You reassured, "We were just hoping you'd be free next spring..."
"What's happening next spring", She questioned, quickly switching her gaze between the both of you. Her mind no doubt flooding with theories as she waited for an explanation.
Holding up your hand the diamond reflected off the natural light seeping in through the windows, "We're getting married", You answered, causing her eyes to widen as she stood up in shock.
Her hands moved to cup her face, "Jean! Is this real", She quizzed, moving to you with ease as she clutched your hand in hers, "Please tell me you aren't joking."
"We're serious", He grinned as she pulled him into her.
"Oh you don't know how happy this makes me", She cried out into his chest, "I've been wishing for this ever since you brought her home!"
"Yeah, well it's finally happening", He chuckled as she pulled back from him, allowing her gaze to land on you as she gasped.
"Your dress! We're going to have to book appointments to get you fitted", She noted, "I actually still have my wedding dress—You know what let me go and find it", She offered, quickly running up the stairs before either of you could protest.
"We should have waited to tell her", Jean mumbled, watching her retreating figure, "She's going to be crazy for the next year, so be prepared."
"Let her have fun", You shrugged, stepping closer to him as he wrapped his arms around your waist, "It's not like she has a daughter to do this stuff with."
"I'm just warning you", He sang, lowering his head down to meet your lips. You kissed briefly before hearing his mother call out your name from her room.
"Do you think your breasts will fit in this dress love", She asked holding a thick white dress over the railings, "What do you think Jean?"
You let out a silent chuckle from her inquisitive question as her son let out an embarrassed hiss, "Don't ask me that kind of stuff", He shouted, making her roll her eyes at his childishness.
"Oh don't act all innocent", She scoffed, walking back to her room before calling out, "I was young once too you know! Now come help me get the wedding box from the attic!"
"Mom", He groaned in disgust as you threw your head back in laughter, "I'm glad you find this funny", He grunted sarcastically.
"It's hilarious actually", You corrected, with a beaming smile, "Something I'm sure Sasha and Connie will find amusing."
"Don't you dare", He threatened.
"What was that Mrs. Kirstein", You called out playfully, "Uh oh you better go help your mom Jean Boy", You shoved him forward, making him shake his head in amusement as he trailed up the stairs.
"You're a piece of work, Weber", He called out.
"You wouldn't have it any other way, Kirstein", You threw back, making him tilt his head back in laughter.
"You've got that right", He shouted before disappearing down the hall, as you fell back into the couch with a pleased sigh.
