‘Fuck off!’ I screamed before slamming my front door shut. I walked down my path gripping onto my bag that had all my things I needed to stay at Marius’ house; mum and I had fallen out, again. Denzel had told her how late I had come in the night before and she started shouting at me. She didn’t go fully crazy until I said the line ‘Well maybe if you weren’t so busy having sex all the time you would know yourself what time I come home at.’ Yeah that’s probably no way to talk to your mother but nobody understands mine. It’s not because I’m at that ‘awkward age’ it’s simply because she’s a twat and always has been. All of my friends were close with their mum’s so I found it awkward telling them the stuff that goes on between us even though they are there for me a hundred percent. I love my mum and I would be devastated if anything happened to her I just wish she treated me a little better. I didn’t even tell Marius I was coming I just planned to arrive on his doorstep, like many times before. I turned the corner that would lead me to the top of his street when I fell backwards to the ground, hitting my back off the tarmac. I winced at the pain and sat up rubbing my head. I looked around to find out what had caused me to fall when I saw him.
‘I’m so sorry, are you okay?’ Zayn was stood in front of me, holding out his hand to help me to my feet. I stood up and brushed myself down before noticing a cut on my arm. He lifted my bag from the ground and handed me it, he then also noticed the cut.
‘Shit. How sore is it?’ He said, taking my arm into his hands and staring at the blood.
‘It’s fine, don’t worry.’ I released myself while trying to cover the cut with the sleeve of my top. I hadn’t seen Zayn since the night in the OT and we hadn’t been back seeing as there had been parties to attend. I definitely hadn’t forgotten about him but I was trying hard to forget about how I embarrassed myself.
‘Come with me, I’ll clean it for you.’ He said, tilting his head towards the street I was about to walk down.
‘No, it’s okay. I’m going to my brother’s house he only lives down there.’ I said, trying to get away from him as fast as possible.
‘I’ll walk you.’ He gave me a light smile and together we walked down the street.
‘Do you live down here?’ I asked him and he nodded.
‘Near the bottom in the flats.’ He spoke. He didn’t live with his parents, very cool.
‘Do you know Marius Barker?’ I asked him, hoping the answer would be no. He shook his head and I let out a breath of relief. We got to Marius house and I noticed the car was gone.
‘Is he not in?’ Zayn asked while taking out a cigarette from a box before lighting it.
‘His girlfriend Jade might be.’ I walked to the front door and knocked loudly, hoping that somebody would answer the door. Zayn stood by the end of the driveway waiting. After three more knocks I came to the conclusion nobody was home.
‘We’ll come back in a bit; your arm will be get infected if you don’t clean it.’ He said. I hesitated before walking back down the drive way. We walked down the street in the direction of the flats Zayn lived in. He walked quite close to me and our hands brushed against each other’s a few times but he didn’t seem to mind.
‘Where did you go that night?’ I heard myself say, the short walk was becoming too awkward.
‘You were leaving so I left too.’ He answered me while taking a draw from his cigarette. I found it sort of nice that he only left because I did, I was the reason he had stayed in the first place but he didn’t even say goodbye. We stood outside the door to his flat as he reached into his pocket for the keys.
