S A D I E

Time seemed to pass quickly. before I knew it, Christmas and New Year's were over, and it was already my birthday.

January 15. I'm 17.

Just like every year, Jax woke me up at the crack of dawn to watch the sunrise while drinking milkshakes. Then, when the sun was up, we'd walk to Amy's Jewelry to add another charm to my charm bracelet. We've had this routine since we were two. Except when we were young, Ezra would come along as well.

Except this year, I can't find my bracelet.

'What do you mean you can't find it?' Jax exclaims. 'That charm bracelet has fourteen charms, one from every year since we were two, and just when we we're going to add the fifteenth charm, you lost it?!'

'Hold your horses, mister. I didn't lose it, I simply misplaced it.'

'Misplaced what?' A gruff voice from behind me scares the living shit out of me.

I yelp and cower behind Jax, who doesn't look a tiny bit frightened, just displeased.

Lucas chuckles and removes me from behind Jax, just to tuck me beside him.

I glare at him and place a hand on my racing heart. 'You scared me, Lucas!' I grab his hand and place it on my heart. 'Feel that? That's how much you scared me.'

Lucas looks down at his hand, I look down myself and blush. My hand is wrapped around his warm wrist that's placed on my chest. I blush harder and drop his arm, apologizing quietly.

Lucas finally snaps out of his daze and smiles down at me. 'Happy birthday, princess.' He says, brushing a light kiss on my head, lighting me on fire. My whole body warms at the contact and suddenly, I don't feel the cold January air anymore.

Jax coughs. I look at him to see him utterly uncomfortable. 'If I knew I was going to third wheel I wouldn't have invited you.'

I roll my eyes. 'Don't be ridiculous.'

'Well, I'm pissed. You don't have your bracelet!'

'This bracelet?' Lucas asks, showing me his wrist. Wrapped around it, are two of my bracelets, the charm one, and my bead bracelet with my name spelled in colourful beads. My jaw hits the floor. Lucas Edwards, in all his celebrity glory, is wearing my bracelets.

Calm down, heart. It's not that big of a deal.

But it is. Lucas never fails to make my day.

Jax gasps and runs into Lucas's arms, earning a grunt from Lucas. But Jax didn't care, he tightens his hold around Lucas, and mutters something on the lines of 'You are a superhero.'

I smile, and snap a picture of them.

I admire it. Lucas has a glare on his face, but his eyes are shining with happiness. I think Lucas loves Jax just as much as I do.

I put the photo as my phone wallpaper.

'Mine now! Mine now!' Jax practically throws the present towards me, but Lucas pulls an arm out and catches it before it hits my face. I smile at him in thanks and tear the wrapping off Jax's present.

My smile widens. 'Really?'

Jax grins. 'Yes.'

'Jax!'

He got me a yellow polaroid camera. The one I've wanted since forever. But it's almost $65 dollars.

'Thank you! Thank you!' I lunge at him and give him a hug. 'I will never forget this.'
