And just like that, with only the remaining memory of a happier moment, the Chainsaw Man vanished out of sight in no more than the blink of an eye.

(Y/N) felt himself falling from the skies on which they were fighting, knowing the battle was over, at least for now. The cutting noise of the wind that blitzed through his ears made him aware of his surroundings, and turning back, he saw the approaching figure of the living complex on which Makima and Power were still waiting for him.

"He's gone, for now." Makima voice cut through the silence left behind on the decaying building. "(Y/N) should be here soon." She turned around to stare at Kishibe and Power, who were still trying to compose themselves due the destruction.

In the lasting remains of the corridor on where they stood, right in the empty space at the middle of the three figures, dancing strokes of golden fire danced in a spiraling motion before bursting into a small pillar of flames. In the already dimly illuminated darkness of the corridor, the figure of (Y/N) appeared from the fire, walking out of the blazing column although he was already in his human form. Missing one of his arms and a leg, he had managed to create a fire prosthesis to allow himself to walk properly.

"But it seems you've run out of blood already." Makima noted upon looking at his state, and she started walking through the corridor. Passing (Y/N)'s side, their shoulders almost bumping, he couldn't help but notice her gaze fixated on the stairs at the end that led to the exit doors. "I'll be looking for Chainsaw Man now, I advise you not to come and search for me."

"You're just gonna walk out like that?" Kishibe asked. Power was already running towards (Y/N)'s side, who fell to the floor as the fire that supported him acting as a leg quickly dispelled due to his blood loss. From the blood gushing out of Power's open wounds, (Y/N) drank enough to heal his missing limbs.

"You've got any better idea?" Makima stared back at Kishibe for a second. "You can't kill me due to the establishments of my contract with the prime minister, and you three are finally reunited." She said. "It's not a bad idea, isn't it? To step aside and leave the Chainsaw Devil in my hands."

"I don't expect you to believe in such a thing." (Y/N) said, struggling to get to his feet. "You can't believe I'll just leave Denji behind."

"Truth is I don't believe so." Makima avoided (Y/N)'s gaze, and turned her head back towards the stairs as she reassumed her walk. She tried to continue speaking, but her voice was suddenly cut off by the roaring noise of a thunder traveling through the sky. "It seems the storm is already gathering, so we'll met soon enough." She said before reaching for the stairs. "I'll be waiting for you." She whispered on her departure.

The whole building was left behind in a cold silence which none of them dared to interrupt until a couple of minutes later, on which (Y/N) and Power simply sat on the floor, their backs against the walls in an attempt to rest until the time came again.

After Makima left, Kishibe reached for the intern pockets of his trench coat and pulled out a blood bag from one of them. "Are you actually going to face Makima again?" He asked upon lending the blood bag to Power.

"I have to." After Power struggled a couple of seconds to open the blood bag, she gave it to (Y/N), who simply ripped off the tube seal atop of it and handed it back to her.

"You won't be able to win without a plan." Kishibe simply stated.

"I can't just let Denji get killed by her either." (Y/N) responded. "I don't mind winning, really, you should just think about something while I try to buy us some time to help Denji escape and return to his human self."
