Mind Games - Win or Lose

Chapter - 4

We all need a little Seyfi in our life, someone to take a chisel to the shell that has been built up and start making cracks. He 'salted the water', you may not see it today but . . . . . .

Aydan walked over to the annex to see what Seyfi was doing. "Seyfi, what are you up to?"

Seyfi turned around and looked at Aydan, "Who me?" he asked innocently, "I thought that since Eda hanim doesn't remember Serkan bey I would leave some of their mementoes throughout the apartment. And I've got Serkan bey's fragrance on the pillows and on his clothes in the closet that he keeps here. Look, I put more of their pictures up but not just them. And in the office I put some of her landscape designs. I'm salting the water Aydan hanim."

She walked around picking up small thing here and there, a remote control robot, Serkan's guitar pick framed and on the wall and underneath that the handcuffs were hanging. "You've been busy, when have you had the time with work?"

"This is important, I've made the time," Seyfi was setting up his final piece, the telescope. He had bought the exact same one that Serkan bey and Eda hanim had at the house. He had even looked up the coordinates for Sirius and set the scope. The other pieces he borrowed from Serkan bey. Seyfi hoped that her curiosity would win out. The woman needed a nudge.

The following morning Aydan and Seyfi arrived at the hospital to pick up Eda. They checked in at the nurses station and introduced themselves as the guardians for Eda Bolat.

Eda was nervous, two more people who she didn't know were meeting her today to take her to an apartment. She had packed her overnight bag and added the things that were in the little closet. The suit, the purse and the phone. Who would she even call she wondered since she couldn't unlock it. She had the album, the drawing items and the flowers, a rather sad existence. Eda had spent an hour going through the album that Serkan left for her the previous day, she looked at what she guessed was herself as a small child and teenager. She read the cards and letters. She remembered the words of Dr. Sayir, when she said that she wasn't trying. Was she denying her own existence? She didn't know what was motivating her actions but she knew that a big part of her was afraid. She was afraid of the unknown and that was her life right now.

Nurse Lara was back on duty this morning, "Eda, I'd like to introduce you to Seyfi bey and Aydan hanim, they will be taking you to the apartment that you will be staying at. I wish you the best of luck."

Eda smiled nervously at both of them, "Aydan hanim, Seyfi bey, it's a pleasure to meet you. Thank you for giving me a place to stay while I figure out what I'm going to do next."

It hurt Aydan to have Eda call her anything other than anne, they had been mother and daughter for over two years. She could only imagine Serkan's pain but she tried to smile through it, "I'm happy to provide a place where you will feel safe, come."

Seyfi reached out to help her with her things, Eda handed him the overnight bag and the flowers, she wanted to hold on to the album. Aydan and Seyfi both saw the album, all of Eda's friends and family had contributed to it. Eda had loved it when Serkan gave it to her at their anniversary party. She spent hours going through it laughing and talking with her friends and family over the memories that they had shared. Aydan remembered how Eda's eyes had shone with tears as she looked at Serkan and just mouthed 'my romantic robot I love you so much'.

"Come, we'll take the stairs. Aydan hanim, we'll meet you in the lobby," said Seyfi shaking Aydan from her thoughts.

"You know that I have claustrophobia?" They both nodded.

She was silent in the car on the ride to the apartment and was surprised when they pulled up to the gates of a large estate, "Excuse me, but I thought that you said it was an apartment Aydan hanim."
