She tiptoed in as silently as possible, not thinking that anyone could be up at this hour when suddenly the lights in her room lit up, her dad at the doorway. Arms crossed against his chest, lips drawn in a firm line, this was never a good sign.

That too when she was caught crawling on the ceiling with her suit still on.

If her language is excused, she's basically fucked.

"Well, hello there, Appa, ha!" She said with an awkward chuckle, a bit too happy as she stuck the synthetic web to her ceiling and made her way down  to the floor slowly and safely. "Weird seeing you awake at this hour! Are you working on your book right now? Because damn dad, kudos to you! I can't imagine being stuck in a block for days to finally find inspiration in the middle of the night! Great job, honestly because all I can think about right now is my bed, oh! And look at that! It's 2 AM! I guess it's really time to s—"

"Kim Minji." Uh oh, he pulled out the full name. The coast wasn't clear, it was clogged as fuck and all Minji could do was sigh in defeat and look down.

Namjoon was used to seeing his daughter like this— bloody, battered, beaten up but that didn't make it any easier or make him ready to see her like this again. He had the safety kit nearby, always stocked up as he made her sit on the bed and took a seat beside her. Minji was silent, out of guilt and Namjoon didn't speak much as he cleaned up his daughter's cuts and wounds.

"I'm sorry, appa." Namjoon could only sigh.

This was a regular routine for them. At one point Namjoon used to scold her, ground her, or even made her promise him to not do this again, hurt herself while being so selfless for everyone else but he soon realized where it came from. Minji was his own daughter, stubborn like him in all aspects, a little rebel who liked to fight for what she believed was the best, like him.

Seeing her, Namjoon honestly remembered his old lanky self who would come home beaten up everyday just because he refused to condone any bullshit he witnessed. The only difference was that he had no superpower but his daughter was bestowed with those damned powers.

"Go get changed, I'm heating up the dinner." Namjoon watched his daughter limp towards the bathroom, her ankle swollen and he felt his chest constrict. Fuck, this was so hard.

Without waiting for long, he went to the kitchen to warm up the buddae jiggae he made for Minji, her favourite dish. He made it in hopes she wouldn't stay out for long and get back before 9 and that clearly didn't happen. Namjoon was angry but he was not the father who would starve his child over breaking a rule. So, warming up the food and making himself a cup of lemon tea, he took his seat on the other side of the table. He used to be a disastrous person in the kitchen but raising a superhuman child with a humongous appetite apparently transformed someone into a fairly good cook who knew quite good ways to cook and be creative with it.

Namjoon closed his eyes when he heard a grunt of pain from the bathroom and a thud, Minji knocked over the bottle of handwash again.

This wasn't easy at all. Namjoon became a father when he was 17 with the mother abandoning Minji at his doorsteps. Namjoon was an angry teen, who clearly had it hard in his personal life with no way to support himself, still depending on his family. So when he found Minji at the doorsteps of his house in a box with a note, his first reaction was of shock and then, fear. The little baby was so fragile when he lifted her up in his arms and he was actually scared if he really wanted it or not. His girlfriend broke up with him a long time ago and moved away, leaving no way to contact her.

"This is your daughter, Joon. I'm sorry that I abandoned her but I'm not strong enough for this, hope you fill the lack of it for her."
— Sumin

Namjoon was scared, considering if he would keep her or continue the cycle that his ex started when he felt little fingers holding his thumb tightly. He looked down to see his baby girl yawn and Namjoon couldn't control it, he cried. Then it was a constant struggle from thereon. Namjoon refused to listen to his parents' advice and put her in an orphanage. Instead, he chose to walk out of there and sort his own life out. It was a struggle, juggling between school and part time jobs, then between college and jobs, he finally raised his Minji.

He was jolted out of trance when he felt someone fix his glasses and he found Minji, sitting on the opposite side of the table to hold her chopsticks. It was a bit hard, considering the wounds on her knuckles and fingers were fresh. Watching her struggle, Namjoon moved his chair beside her and took the chopsticks from her.
It had been 5 years since he last fed her by himself.

"Open up, Ji-ah." Minji obediently opened up her mouth and Namjoon fed her, keeping his palm beneath her chin lest some soup spilled.

The bowl was big and it took some time considering Minji's injury, he patiently fed her, reminding her to chew very well or she would get indigestion and after she finished, made her drink a whole glass of water.

"I'm really sorry. I didn't mean to upset you," Minji whispered when Namjoon was tucking her in her bed. Namjoon sighed and leaned down to press a kiss on her forehead.

"I know, Minji-ah." He stroked a strand of her hair away from her face and smiled, a bit sad. "But you know, it hurts Appa to see you so hurt. I worry so much all day knowing you're a hero out there, beating up bad guys, saving people and doing a bunch if good stuffs and this old man can do nothing but wait for his Spider daughter."

"You're not old, you're 32!"

"That's basically 60, my joints hurt nowadays. Anyways, rest well, okay? Just call for Appa when you need something. I can still move some limbs."

Standing up, Namjoon switched off the lights and was about to leave when his daughter's voice stopped him.

"The dinner was really good. Can you make pajeons at breakfast? I'll be hungry."

"Stop thinking about food for a second and get back to sleep, kid. You've got a test tomorrow."
