A Date, Please?

Namjoon thought it was better to move his furniture by himself rather than ask someone. He was perfectly capable– dad at 17, a good job to support him and his daughter and a comfortable home, he achieved all of that within 25. Moving furniture was nothing compared to that.

Except, at 31, Namjoon had the back strength of an old lady even if his willpower is that of a 15 year old's.

"Ouch! Motherfu—"

"Yo, Appa, New shelf? Can I help? Ooh that rhymed."

Perhaps Namjoon was dreaming or his best bet was that his eyesight was as good as a 60 year old's now because Minji was carrying the shelf. SHE'S CARRYING A FUCKING SHELF THAT'S BIGGER THAN HER! Namjoon checked for his glasses; they were still there on his eyes. Did myopia somehow contain hallucinations as well? Minji, none the wiser, looked back at him and smiled.

"Where should I place this?"

"By the window," Namjoon said before he even realized. His daughter, Minji, the same Minji who had the strength of an overcooked pasta threatening to break, the same Minji just carried a huge shelf like it was her bag of chips. "You just carried the shelf?"

"Yeah, it looked like you were having a hard time. It's not heavy at all, though. Ahhh… I think you're really getting old… maybe those grey hairs you asked me to cut that day aren't just the mark of wisdom. It's okay, I'm here now, I can carry the load for us. You can go make yourself some tea and rest," Minji said before heading towards her room, checking her "biceps" which were actually bulging through the sleeves of her shirt?!

Maybe all of this was just a huge fever dream. Namjoon really needed a rest or something.

Except, his daughter was now back from school so he would have to serve some lunch and then take a rest. Rubbing his back, Namjoon headed to his kitchen and started serving the food.

"You just need a break, Namjoon," he whispered to himself. "You're not going crazy."

Minji came out of her room a few minutes later, freshened up and in her Winnie-the-Pooh pajamas. As soon as the aroma of the food hit her nose, she groaned loudly. "Wahh, this smells so good! I'm starving, Appa, I could literally swallow a whole pig right now."

"It's good that I've accidentally made a lot today. Eat up then, Ji-ah."

When Namjoon said eat up, he didn't think Minji would eat so much more than she normally ate. Maybe she was really hungry. He mentally noted to give her extra snacks for school.

After the rise of superheros in the world, the school hours of South Korea changed since crime became more and more prominent as the sky darkened. Children now came back home by 2 PM, hagwons were open only until 5 PM now. Minors were not allowed to go out of the house after 7 PM without a guardian with the only exceptions being minor superheros. Now, children were required to carry tiffin from home since there was a huge risk of school food getting poisoned with rising supervillains and criminals.

"My Minji is eating so well," Namjoon remarked when he saw her heaping a bit more rice in her bowl. He put a few pieces of meat on her bowl and it was gone within seconds. "Did you run a lot during activities class? You seem too hungry. Do you want some more soup?"

"Yes, please."

Namjoon could never guess it but all of the excess food was gone and Minji was rubbing her belly. "Wahh, Appa. Today's lunch was great. Do you have something sweet I can eat? I feel like I have some room for dessert."
