One Chance; No Do-overs

Namjoon knew something was up.

He knew that something was fishy the moment Minji woke up before Namjoon had to drag her blanket away, open the blinds and make loud noises with the vacuum cleaner. Then, she came to his room to choose an outfit that wasn't like an "insomniac caffeine addicted artist". If that wasn't enough, she wanted him to ditch his glasses and go for lenses.

"Absolutely not!"

"But—"

"Nope! What did you break? Please tell me it's not another one of your friends. I'm literally out of excuses at this point."

"It was just an accident!" Minji said defensively. "And it was just his right hand. Could've been worse, like his future childre—"

"You aren't getting out of this," Namjoon scolded. "What did you do this time? You're being too weird."

"J-Just dress well!"

Namjoon eyed her suspiciously and left for the kitchen. Breathing a sigh of relief, Minji whipped her phone out to text something and put it away as soon as her father called her for breakfast. As soon as she sat down, Namjoon's phone rang and he left the table to receive it. A little while later, he came back.

"Minji-ah, I'll have to leave now for the meeting, the guests will arrive earlier than expected." He placed a kiss on her crown and went past her to keep her lunch box and bottle in her bag. "Eat well and don't do anything I wouldn't do, okay? I'll bring ice cream tonight. Wow, it's been a while since I've had some. I should've accepted one when Yujung was treating everyone," Namjoon muttered the last couple sentences to himself as he put on his shoes. "Study well, and lock the house properly before you leave! Don't lose the keys! Bye, kid," Namjoon almost shouted out to her as he headed out in a hurry, not even giving Minji the chance to say 'bye'.

"Bye, I guess," Minji said, more to herself than him.

"Good morning, Yujung-ah."

"Good mornin— oh." Namjoon stopped to look at her colleague who checked him out. "You look different."

"Yeah," he scratched his head, unsure if it was a good difference. "Minji picked out my outfit today." He then checked himself. "Is this not–"

"No, this is great!" Yujung clarified with a smile. "You look really good today."

"So you're telling me I don't look good on other days?"

"Yah, dumbnut, when I say I love potatoes, it doesn't mean that I hate chicken, don't twist my words. But yeah, you look better than other days."

"Thanks," Namjoon said dryly with a sarcastic smile. He was about to head into the meeting room where his boss was waiting but then Yujung stopped him again.

"Namjoon-ah, you should go to your desk first. Someone dropped a gift for you."

"Yujung, the meeting is–"

"The clients are stuck in traffic, okay? It's gonna take them another thirty minutes to arrive. Just go."

Sighing, Namjoon arrived at his desk and just froze. There was a huge bouquet of flowers with numerous types of flowers wrapped in a pink fabric and tied by a white ribbon. It was beautiful. It was crazy. Whoever the fuck thought that it was a great idea to do this for Namjoon, a hopeless romantic who could be brought to tears by a simple confession on T.V.? His heart thumped so hard that for a moment he was afraid everyone would hear the sound. Maybe everyone did hear it, considering how they were watching him as discreetly as they could. He looked down at the bouquet again and there was a card hidden among two flowers.
