"Thank you." I blurted out, breaking the silence in the car. I was sat in the passengers seat so Gerard looked at me the moment the words left my mouth. "For listening to me." He smiled at me, I guess he wasn't that good at assisting people in times like this but I get it.

The conversation with Derek went pretty well, but they were talking about some legal stuff I apparently wasn't allowed to hear yet. I felt a lurch in my stomach when we pulled onto the familiar street my house was sat upon.

"Wait." I said. Gerard turned to look at me, he looked confused. "How do you know where I live?" "files." I raised my eyebrow, he said that a bit too quickly for my liking. "Okay..."

We both got out of the car at the same time, fear was clouding my head and I suddenly felt dizzy, I grabbed onto Gerard's arm as I stumbled in the grass. I wasn't too keen on face planting right now. Before I knew it, Gerard was on my porch, knocking on the door and pushing his hair back out of his face.

I knew my parents were home now and I got flashbacks from earlier, I felt like the cop knocking this time, getting ready to bring me to the station giving me terrible news along the way. But now, I was met with the face of my dad.

"One moment." He said before turning around, I heard him say something before my mom appeared in the doorway of the kitchen. She started walking to the door and she looked confused. "Hi Gerard, it's nice seeing you again." She announced, a smile on her face. I saw her eyes move to me.

"Come in."

We both stepped inside, I felt like crying again and I knew I would when I finally told my parents what had happened. "Is he in trouble?" I heard my mom ask. I looked at Gerard and he shook his head. "No ma'am, but he does have something to talk with you two about and please try and understand what he's saying."

I saw my mom nod and we were all sat on the couch. "How did it start?" Gerard asked, I knew that was my cue to start talking and I took a deep breath before starting.

"I was just up in my room playing my guitar and I heard a knock. So I went downstairs and opened the door cause I had no idea who it was, what if it was Vic or something. And so I opened the door and it was a cop and he handcuffed me and told me I had been charged with assault by Bob." A tear fell from my eye but I put my head down to hide it.

"He brought me to the station and I had no idea what was gonna happen." My voice cracked and Gerard took over for me. "I saw him and I briefly went over what happened with the officer he was with and I offered to question him. I figured he'd feel better talking about it with someone he knew."

I saw my parent's faces and they looked scared, I wasn't sure what the cause was, though.

"I told him the truth." I started. "Bob was the one who assaulted me, 3 years ago. He thought I was gonna steal his girlfriend from him." My parents knew I was gay so I tried to let out a light laugh before continuing. "He put a knife to my throat and threatened to kill me." My mom had her mouth covered with her hand, and my dad had a look in his eye that was something I've never seen in him before.

"He ended up cutting me, luckily he didn't stab me but it still hurt like a bitch." I lifted up my shirt the same way I did to show Gerard, exposing the scar once again. "Why didn't you tell us?" My mom cried out, "I was scared."

"My poor baby." She pulled me in for a tight hug and I gladly accepted it. My dad joined and Gerard let us have our moment before speaking up. "There will have to be legal actions taken, and court." I knew it was gonna be this way so I nodded, court fucking terrified me but I wasn't going to express that to Gerard.

"Does he have a lawyer?" My parents shook their heads. "Alright, we can work on setting one up for him." After that I started to zone out, my parents excused themselves to talk alone and I didn't even notice I was picking at the skin around my fingers until I felt Gerard softly pull my hand away from my other one.

He saw me start to blush and put his hand on top of mine. "Your parents love you." He stated. I knew that, but it was one of those things you don't think about a lot so hearing that from someone else made it sound true.

"I'm scared he's actually going to kill me this time." I admitted. "That won't happen, okay?" Gerard assured. We both looked as my parents walked back into the living room, Gerard quickly pulling his hand away from mine.

"What options does Frank have while in... court?" My dad asked. "Well, he could possibly sue and press charges." My dad nodded and looked at my mom. "It's whatever he chooses." My mom affirmed.

"Do you wanna start this now?" He looked at me and I agreed, wanting to get this done and over with. "Okay, we'll have to do it privately." My mom told us to go to my room and I felt slightly embarrassed at the thought of Gerard seeing my room.

I opened the door and was hit with a million posters over the walls and my black curtains blocking out the sunlight. "It's not the greatest but.." Gerard smiled as he saw my vinyl collection and comics sprawled across the floor. "You have amazing taste." He exclaimed.

We walked in and I sat on my bed, staring at my guitar I longed to play. "Play something." I whipped my head around, furrowing my eyebrows at what Gerard said. "Ah I can't... it's embarrassing to play in-front of people."

"Lameee." Gerard called out and I giggled before lifting up my guitar and playing "drain you" by Nirvana. Gerard's face lit up as he recognized the tune and he started singing the lyrics. He had such a beautiful voice and I almost stopped playing just to hear him clearer.

I joined along instead, smiling at each other and me adding weird riffs in random parts of the song. The song finished too soon for my liking and I knew we had to actually start talking now.

"I know it's scary."
