I woke up to my mom shaking me gently. I squinted my eyes, the sun shining through my window felt blinding. "You don't have school today, the governor is too worried about something happening while you kids are at school."

It took me a minute to process the information, but once I did I rubbed my eyes and groggily stepped out of bed and threw on a random t-shirt I found in my closest and made my way downstairs.

Both of my parents were sitting on the couch, my dad had a cup of coffee and my mom was trying to steal a sip. I sat next to my dad and glanced at the TV; the news was on.

"This morning at 5:30 a civilian of Belleville New Jersey spotted yet another burned down building. St Augustine church." I heard my mom gasp. "That's terrible!"

I discretely rolled my eyes before turning my attention back on the TV. "We are here at the scene of the crime with police captain, officer Way."

A man showed up on screen and I used everything to not gasp. He was drop dead gorgeous and had shoulder length jet black hair his nose was slightly pointed upwards. He talked on the one side of his mouth which made him all the more mesmerizing.

"...I am aware that if this problem is not solved soon and the person committing the felony is not caught, then we will have to take desperate measures."

I heard my dad speak up.

"This is terrible. They've already shut down schools for the day because they're scared someone's going to set that on fire while kids are in there." My mom shook her head and sighed. "This is sick, absolutely sick."

I looked down at my feet, I wonder what my parents would do if they ever found out it was me causing all the chaos.

"...we'll need to send out more officers to patrol the area, we'll be setting up cameras around the town, also."

"Isn't that an invasion of privacy or something?" I spoke. "It's a public area, they're not breaking any laws so it'll just have to be the way it is." My dad said.

I would have to start hiding myself more, not showing as much tattoos and covering my face. This was going to make my life so much harder.

-2 hours later-

I was laying in bed when I heard my phone go off beside me, it was my best friend, Ray. I looked at the text and smiled.

Guitar god: hey man, are you doing anything?

I quickly typed back a no before checking my Twitter notifications. He replied soon after that.

Guitar god: cool. Wanna come with me to the skatepark? I'm soooooooo bored.

I typed "I'll be there in 10" before telling my parents I was leaving and hopping on my skateboard to ride to his house. Once I made it, I walked up onto his porch and knocked on the door.

I heard a few footsteps inside before the door opened, showing Ray in all his glory. I smiled at him before he yelled to his mom that he was leaving and stepped out of the house.

He grabbed his skateboard from the garage. "It's awesome that we don't have school." He said while putting on a helmet. "Mhm. Why do you always wear a helmet, though?" Ray gave me a side eye.

"I don't want brain damage at 17."

I shrugged. "I can't wear one, it'll ruin my punk aesthetic." Ray laughed, "don't come to me crying when you're in the hospital on life support."

I rolled my eyes and we made our way towards the skate park. The clouds were covering the sun, October would be here soon and I couldn't be more excited. Imagine how many kids I could traumatize on my birthday, Halloween.

The skate park didn't have much people in it, it was a little chilly out so people probably didn't want to be outside. It's better though, less people to get in your way.

We didn't do a whole ton of dangerous stuff, mostly just tricks that we ended up failing and giving up.

It was getting late so we decided to head back. Everything was going smoothly until we heard a police car pull up beside us.

My heart skipped a beat as I saw the door open and out stepped the officer from the news. "Hey guys, mind if I ask a few questions?" My heart dropped. There's no way he knows. "Sure." Ray said with a hint of confusion in his eyes.

I noticed ray and the officer both looked at me, I tried to remember his name as I felt ray nudging me. "Oh right, uh sure yeah." I said, startled. The officer looked at me before asking Ray for his name. He turned to look at me after, hoping I'd get the hint.

"Tyler." I said nonchalantly, I don't give my real name out to cops, I figure the less they know the better. I noticed him write something down so I took the time to see what his name was. "Way" of course, how could I forget.

I looked up and saw officer Way motioning for Ray to follow him. I stuck my hands in my pockets and felt around for my phone, it was there. I started to pull it out before stopping, I realized it wasn't a good idea to go on my phone while a cop was about to question me.

I looked at the ground before putting one foot on my skateboard and moving it back and forth. I looked up after a minute and saw Ray looking towards me before looking back at the officer.

Just as I was about to look back down I noticed the two walking back to me, It was my turn. Ray moved to the side as officer Way took out his notebook again. "We'll start with something simple, is that okay?" I nodded my head and bit the inside of my cheek.

"How old are you?" "18." "did you graduate?" "Not yet." The questions carried on for a bit longer, they weren't anything too extravagant. I saw officer way sneak a look at Ray before looking back at me. "Can you empty your pockets for me."

I furrowed my eyebrows slightly, there's no way he's being serious right now. He didn't do this to Ray and I gave him no reason to do it to me. "Why?" I spoke up, not really looking for an answer... I just wanted to procrastinate.

"Because I asked you to." His voice had a stern tone to it and he gripped his pen a little harder. "You didn't ask him to!" I said while motioning to Ray. "So why me? What's the reason?" My voice raised an octave as nerves raced through my body.

"I don't need a reason." He stepped closer to me and a panicked. I took off sprinting in the direction facing his car, I heard Ray shout but I didn't bother listening. I turned a corner and continued down the road.

I spotted a bush up ahead, I heard a car door slam and I sprinted as fast as I could before hiding behind the bush and catching my breath. I didn't dare look in fear of giving away my position.

That was, until I heard footsteps drawing nearer.
