Chapter 258.3: Breaking Momentum, Toying With Hearts

He hoped they would at the very least act as barriers against the magma and could be discarded if they melted and stuck to the hot magma, immobilising him.

It was a wise choice on his part.

It is strange to note that even now he did not care for his skin, despite the fact that it was more resistant than any metal he encountered!

Countless dragons arrived and were turned to mush one by one, corroding the little strength Raikage had left after duelling for an hour! He was literally fighting for his life at this point.

Then...it happened! The Raikage had been bound between the gaps in the obsidian daggers by a magma dragon; the next best thing for penetration was impossible! Sulphur and other toxic gases erupting from their mouths had a minor but suffocating effect on him.

An exhausted raikage attempted to crush the grasping obsidian daggers, but was only able to pull a few of them...

The conditions were ideal for Tonan's strategy to succeed!

"Prepare for battle!" Minato shouted, and the Leaf ninjas took battle stances one after another. Under normal circumstances, at this moment, Tonan should rush forward to deal with the injured Sandaime Raikage.

Then, Konoha's morale would soar, and they would be able to annihilate the Kumo army in one fell swoop, seizing this war's victory. But for Tonan, the main purpose of today's battle was to just set up his character and show off. He had no intention of killing Sandaime Raikage.
