One sided // jakehoon

"okay.. i like you, sunghoon."

jake let the words easily slip out of his mouth. he wasn't even worried about the rejection since he already saw it coming but what he wasn't expecting was sunghoon still looking at him confused.

"what do you mean?" sunghoon asked with a dumbfounded look on his face. he obviously knew what jake was saying but he was shocked and even jake could see that.

jake slowly let go of his hand and sat normally, he looked towards the tv before hesitantly looking back at sunghoon.

"i like you sunghoon.. i always have, and i'm just now getting the courage to tell you... it might not be the perfect time but yeah.." jake sincerely said, he didn't know how he got all his confidence to just say it but he knew he wanted to let it all out.

sunghoon slowly nodded his head for a moment as if he was starting to understand the words that jake was saying.

"you've liked me..? for how long?" sunghoon asked quietly, it sort of scared jake because sunghoon had a blank expression on.. he couldn't tell what it meant.

"since we first met... if i'm being completely honest." jake admitted, nervously rubbing the back of his neck.
he still carefully observed sunghoons reaction despite how nervous he was.

sunghoons eyes widened, "that's a long time.. damn." he managed to say, sighing as he looked down at his hands.
jake looked at him expectingly, waiting for some kind of rejection or for him to push him away.. but none of that was happening yet.

it was silent for at least a few minutes and it was killing jake, he just wanted some reassurance so that he could finally get over sunghoon.. but he tried to understand that sunghoon is just trying to comprehend everything.

finally, sunghoon broke the silence by coughing awkwardly. "jake. i'm sorry, i just really wasn't expecting this.. it's surprising and i'm not saying it's a bad thing either! i just don't know how to feel about that.. im not sure how i didnt know that you liked me all this time." sunghoon spoke, sounding like he was conversing to himself.

jake smiled to himself and looked over at sunghoon, "i know hoon. but i told you now because.. i want to be able to get over you so that we can be friends, like normal. you know?.." sunghoon didn't know how much it hurt for jake to say that since he didn't want to admit it.. even to himself, but it did.

he didn't want to get over him but he knew he probably had to.

sunghoon kept the blank expression but he slightly nodded his head, "right. but i didn't reject you... did i?"

jake looked over at him confusingly, "what do you mean?" he asked, not understanding at all.

sunghoon smiled a little for the first time since the beginning of jakes confession. "well.. obviously you know i like sunoo, just how you like me..."

"it's just.. well- how do i say this.. umm jake, i've always thought you were really cute and sweet but i never thought of you as anything more than a friend.. i didn't even think of the possibility because i was so caught up with sunoo obviously. ah, what im trying to say is.. i don't mind if you still like me or flirt with me or whatever..."

jake looked at him, his eyes wide. he definitely wasn't expecting that to come from him.
"you're serious?.. so you're saying that you don't care if i flirt with you?" jake asked, still in shock. he didn't even really know what he meant by that, since he didn't usually intentionally flirt with sunghoon.

sunghoon sighed, "no i don't mind.. but after saying it out loud i realize it sounds kind of strange." he chuckled and started fumbling with his hands. "i just meant i won't push you away or think it's weird that you like me but i totally understand if you want to start taking a liking to heeseung like you were saying or something! because it makes sense, you've liked me for all this time and i've never known so i've probably been hurting you... so it makes sense that you'd want to get over me and i'm really sorry for that."

jake looked at sunghoon, he himself was now in shock because he was hearing all this coming from sunghoon.
he didn't exactly know what to say, or what to do.

he took a deep breath and looked down at the floor. "don't be sorry. you didn't know.. also you were feeling the same way about sunoo, you're hurt too." jake said quietly as he looked back over at sunghoon, he met his eyes and he could've sworn he saw them sparkle or something.

sunghoon showed a small smile, "you're right.. but i really want to get over sunoo so i'm going to try my best to do that because i know i'll feel better."

so.. if i get over you, i'll feel better too then... right?

jake only nodded his head, he felt relieved and confused all at the same time.
he was happy that he finally confessed but now all this was just confusing.

he had a plan but it wasn't going that way at all.

"that's good. hoon, it's getting late.. i should go. i just need to think about some things because i'm not sure what's going on with heeseung or anything.. i'm so confused." jake said honestly which made sunghoon laugh quietly.

jake only looked at him more confusingly, he raised an eyebrow. "why are you laughing?.." he asked with a serious expression for once.
this only made sunghoon laugh a little more, "i'm sorry you look really cute when confused.."

jake felt his face get warm but all he did was smile shyly and quickly stood up, ignoring the compliment "anyways! i'll text you.."

he quickly waved and walked towards the front door, but sunghoon walked towards him and grabbed his wrist, pulling him back.
jake stared at him blankly, his eyes widening slightly. "w-what??" he mumbled, he almost couldn't speak because this was the close's he's been to sunghoons face.

he fought all the urge to even look down at his lips.

sunghoon smiled brightly and pulled him in for a hug, wrapping his arms around jakes waist.

it took jake a moment to register what he was doing but he hesitantly hugged him back. sunghoon pulled away after a moment to look at jake, yet his arms were still around him.

"i just want to thank you jake.. for trusting me and telling me, i know it probably took a lot to tell me this but... i hope you know i'd never be mad at you or hate you for anything like this." he grinned once again, his perfect smile.

jake couldn't help but smile as well, he quickly nodded. sunghoon doesn't know exactly how happy jake was to hear those words.

"thank you sunghoon, really.. now goodbye! i gotta go~" jake said quickly, pulling away from him and walked out of the house as fast as he could.
