"So he apologized?" Maya asked as we walked down the hall."Yeah, it was so weird." I said thinking about to.
"And you fully forgive him? After all those swearings of 'I hate Josh Kiszka,' you just forgive him?" She asked.
"Well, I know I like swore by that, but I didn't really. I just wanted him to apologize to me. That's was my main point, because I mostly got over myself." I said.
"You are so..." Maya said. "That's how bad it is. I can't even think of a word to explain it."
We both laughed and continued walking down the hallway. As we were walking towards my biology class, I saw Josh walking in the hallway.
Maya started slapping my side making it so blatantly obvious. I shoved her shoulder to make her stop.
Josh walked towards us, almost missing us. He looked up at last minute and smiled at me.
"Oh my god, oh my god." She whispered the moment he was past.
"What?" I asked confused.
"He smiled at you!" She said.
"He smiled at me yesterday...and winked." I said.
"Girl!" She said loudly. "He likes you!"
"No, he doesn't." I said. "You're worse than me."
"Oh cmon, please let me have this." She begged.
"No." I said. "Maya, I appreciate it, but I am trying my hardest to not fall in love with him, okay?"
"So you have feelings for him?" She asked.
"No..." I said. "At least I'm trying not to."
"Don't deny it." She said.
"Bye." I veered to the left going to my classroom and ending the conversation. I was relieved. I really didn't want to like him, heaven knows I'd be miserable.
I sat in my room trying to finish 'Perks of Being a Wallflower,' when my phone went off.
I unlocked my phone to see a text.
unknown number
HeyConfused, I opened my phone up and began typing.
Hello?
Who is this? There was nothing for a moment, but a text popped up.
It's Josh :)
I smiled to myself, knowing I shouldn't be excited about this.
Hi Josh
How'd you get my number?Jake gave it to me.
Of course he did
Did you not want me having your number?
I already have to see you at school, and when I pick up Jay
Well, it looks like you are stuck with me.
I could just block you
You wouldn't.
You don't believe me?
Not for one second.
I smiled and looked at the contact info. I hit the block button, ending Josh's texting. I would eventually undo it, but I felt like being difficult, just for Josh.
I started reading my book again, with a few minutes of peace.
"Juliette!" My mom called.
"In here!" I hollered back. She walked in my room holding the house phone.
