ROLL LIKE THUNDER
MARCH, 2008 / 10 MONTHS LATER
As the months became longer and longer for the newborn, Cory began to mellow. The human blood that lingered in her tissues no longer tormented her so gravely, severely, as it started to leave her system each passing day. She didn't feel the urge to feed as violently as she had during the first few months after the change. Though the desire would forever remain, it was appeasing to know that she wasn't as rampant as she had been. Cory didn't like to hurt others, but when it came down to it, she was forced.

Around her coven, Cory didn't want to seem weak or like a burden either. She did as she was told, for once, to avoid conflict. This group was the only thing she had at the moment, and she was not as willing to give up the slightest sense of security she had.

Cory already felt out of step, compared to the others. The nomadic coven, Jame's coven, had been so different from what the Volturi had been. Yet, so similar at the same time. In the strangest way, they were like a very uncanny, and slightly dysfunctional family — In the strangest way. They were more of a family than the Volturi claimed to be with their bonded, vampire mercenaries.

Even so, Cory began to fit in. Within a month of her arrival with the group, she'd started to get the hang of being nomadic — which merely consisted of a lot of traveling. It's not as if it drained the vampires physically or anything. Their bodies couldn't hold them back, so they could come and go as they please. So, they spent their time going to gorgeous places, and feeding on humans each town. Their short-lived screams of agony seemed to fuel the rest of the coven though: not Cory. Then again, whenever she's thirsty things just happen — It's a fatal flaw that's been burned into her mind, hardwired in her brain. She's been bound to the process since her creation, her transformation into this endless life. And Cory just couldn't help it — Couldn't stop the natural urge to feed, and to survive.

It was engraved in her. Right?

Once a vampire goes into something of a hunting mode, it's nearly impossible to put an stop to their instincts. Like most vampires, Cory changes; her mannerisms revert into animality, and all any friendliness she had disappears within a instant. Once the scent of blood catches her nose, she's changed. It is something any vampire can recognize, and be comfortable with. Something they all understand. It's like now.
