START OF SOMETHING NEW
MARCH 18TH AUGUST 1ST, 2007
Only a few weeks into the summer and Cory felt the immense change in her existence. Alterations with her diet made her feel ... more alive. If that's what one would call her incurable vampirism. God, she wished she had known about this from the get-go. Perhaps, her life would've been ten times easier if she had known. That's what she thinks at least. Already, her mood had lifted and she didn't feel that endless nothingness — the drained and suffocating feelings that she had. She didn't have to harm anyone, like she had been taught. There was another way, a better way. One that didn't involve senseless slaughter of random people. She didn't have to feel the torment when feeding because there was no one there who could torment her — no one struggling against her, clawing at her skin with no avail. No one kicking, scratching and hitting. No screams filling her head anymore. No one being the victim.

Unlike the other vampires, animal blood might not have been the best thing she had tasted but it was far better than she expected. There was the slight unappeal in hunting for it, having to tear through hair and dirt just to get to the blood, but once she maneuvered her way past that, animal blood wasn't the worst thing Cory had tasted. After spending months with James' coven, she realized the that a majority of their meals had been tainted. Alcohol and drugs affect the way blood tastes, and unfortunately for Cory, it seemed like the entire world had turned to pills, pills, pills. It left a bitter aftertaste when drinking blood. So, animal blood was certainly better than that.

Priorities had changed. Suddenly, humans weren't mere prey in her eyes. They began to have a meaning to her again, actually. They were more than just walking sacs of bones and flesh, and blood. Some even deserved better than the earth they walked in ... but, Cory would never admit that. Not yet, at least. She swallowed the sentence whole anytime it made an appearance in her mind.

Humans would always have something she would never have. A chance. Opportunities flowed like a stream in rivers for human beings. For mortal creatures, they could have their times of rest — whether it be in sleep or in death. Either way. They would enjoy the small moments, for they would never live beyond a century, or less. They would never experience the world in the way Cory would. Somehow, that was beautiful. And oddly soothing to the mortals. Meanwhile, Cory struggled to work past that. She was frozen. She'll always be this — as far as the world sees it, no matter how hard she'll try, a monster. A beast destined for eternal hellfire. If she would ever even make it to the gates of hell ... By the way it's looking, all signs are pointing to no — immortality, at its finest.
