Blood is in her mouth.A thin layer coats Cory's palms in the crimson shade; coming from the way she had held meticulously, forcefully onto her victim's neck after nearly draining him entirely of his vitality. It feels like lava on her ice-cold skin. The warmth of the blood could almost still be felt, pulsating as if it were still traveling through veins. Fresh blood from a fresh kill.
To add onto matters, the satiating taste doesn't last. For the shortest moment Cory had ever experienced, her throat ceased it's wicked burning. Until it sparked again; a festering agony hand-in-hand with numbness.
Vexation racked up through Cory. An exasperated breath left her lips as she rattled the human body in her hands, hoping for even the smallest drop of blood to fall; something — anything to rid her of the pain, to put a cease to her craving throat and longing lips. Nothing came. Once she realized there was nothing to come, her hand no longer hoisted the man up.
With a cruel thump, the drained body slumped against the floor, sliding grotesquely down the wall as Cory took a few steps back. All the color vanquished from the face of the lamented mortal; lack of blood, cold room, death. Even with the warmth of summer, the room she resided in had been frigid. Not that it had a possibility of bothering her anymore. A grimace crossed her face, and if she had been human, she would've been shuddering. Maybe not from the coldness in the room, but from the shame of the situation; a sudden regret for something she couldn't change or fix.
Cory never wanted to harm anyone or anything.
Across the house came the faintest pair of unhurried footsteps came about. Something only Cory would be able to hear. Ears perking at the abrupt noise, she slowly raised a curious brow. She spoke softly, benevolently, all too quiet compared to the incessant ringing pounding about her ears, so fierce as though her ears had grown their own beating heart. Everything had been incredibly loud for Cory. Unlike the other vampires, her hearing exceeded their's with the small cost of tinnitus — sometimes an aching tinnitus, at that. How very odd. Perhaps, it was a mental thing?
