DING, DONG DITCH!
WIDE EYED AND FROZEN — but only for the quickest moment — Cory pulled back, quicker than ever, creating the smallest cracking sound in the room. It was entirely drowned out by the snarls coming from Jasper, but loud enough that both Cory and Vance could hear it. Like porcelain dolls hitting linoleum floor tiles, or somebody dropping a tin. It echoed in her mind. All of a sudden, the blood that had spilled and seeped into the carpet, staining and ruining it with crimson, wasn't as critical anymore.

Not in the slightest.

Everyone was far too focused on the bleeding human girl who had been launched across the room, onto shards of shattered glass and such. That gave Cory more than enough time to respond and assess the situation at her hands. Enough time for her to realize her consequential mistake. She had bitten him. Tore straight through the fabric of Vance's shirt — the one that Cory had made him wear and argued with him about it not even an hour ago. She'd bitten him and he said nothing. Well, Vance was no longer grasping onto what had happened. He pulled the frozen girl off to the side, away from all the blood and the drama. Stumbling over her shocked still feet, Cory let Vance lead her out of the room.

Then came a gushing tumble of words. She couldn't stop. "Vance, I am so—" He pulled her up the stairs and out of the basement, breathing slightly hitching before he stopped the action completely.
