TW: brief mention of a fight with an unsub

You were rummaging through your wardrobe looking for a top when you heard the floorboard creak behind you.

'Y/n?' You lifted your head but kept your back to Emily, not knowing what to say or how to act around her. You picked up the first top you could see in front of you.

'Here,' you held it out to get a good look at it, 'this should do.' You spun around and held it open for Emily so she could see it. 'Is this okay?'

Emily looked straight past the top and at your face.

'Yes, no? Not your style?' You questioned, adamant you weren't about to discuss what just happened.

Emily finally looked down at the top, as if noticing it for the first time.

'Uh... yeah that's fine y/n, but can we...'

'Right then,' you brought the T-shirt back down in front of you, walked towards Emily and handed it to her, 'you can get changed in here or the bathroom if you'd prefer.' You started to walk past her through the doorway. She reached her hand for your arm.

'Y/n?' You looked down at her hand on you.

'I'll just be through here with the girls.' You said, giving a brief smile and then leaving. You heard Emily sigh ever so slightly as you got further away.

Back in the living room JJ was back awake and listening to Garcia rant about Kevin.

'I just don't know if I'm excited by him anymore, you know?' Garcia remarked.

Penelope had this remarkable way of being so honest about her feelings and so open with her emotions, that it just made you want to hug her all the time. It was such a breath of fresh air for a team so used to putting their feelings on the metaphorical back-burner in order to get their pretty awful job done each day.

'Hey, Pen.' you said, sitting down beside her. 'You doing okay?'

'Yeah, yeah. Just having my weekly doubts about Kevin. You know, the usual.' She joked, still with tears in her eyes. You smiled at her sympathetically, noticing Emily appear back in the room in the corner of your eye.

'So, enough about me!' Garcia perked up. 'Tell me about your love life y/n! Anyone on the scene?' You shifted uncomfortably in your seat, Emily taking a seat next to you.

'Um, no. No one.'

I'm not lying. What just happened with Emily doesn't count.

'Maybe you and Em should go to that new gay bar that just opened down the street together!' Garcia suggested, clearly happy with herself. You and Emily looked at each other awkwardly.

What just happened makes so much sense now I know she's queer.

'Maybe one day.' Emily said quietly, removing her gaze from you to look down at her legs.

You felt bad. You didn't mean to pie Emily off like that, you just didn't want it to be awkward.

I still have no idea what that was in the kitchen.

'So, sleeping arrangements?' JJ piped up. 'Where do you want us?' You looked around as if you didn't know your own house.

'Well um... this sofa turns into a double futon, and then there's those two sofas that are just ordinary.' You pointed at each.

'I'll take a sofa.' JJ offered.

'Me too!' Garcia chimed in.

Shit!
