TW: Mentions eating disorder behaviour, brief reference to self-harm, suicidal intentions. Please reach out to someone you trust if you're struggling, and please don't read if you think it's going to trigger you.

There's also some teasing with Emily in this chapter that I absolutely didn't intend on until I found myself writing it, so enjoy that I guess 🫣

You and Emily naturally arrived at work at the same time, eyeing each other through your car windows in your parking spaces. You got out of the car and grabbed your bag, noticing Emily was hanging round in her car for a while longer.

Driving to work separately would have been a little pointless if we walked in at the same time anyway.

You made your way into the building and up to the BAU floor. When you reached the bullpen, everybody was still hanging around their desks before the briefing. JJ looked up at you from hers.

'Hey...' she started, walking over to you, '...how are you feeling?' She asked. You smiled politely, trying not to overdo it though.

'I'm a lot better thank you. Sorry if I worried you all the other day. I guess I just got a little overwhelmed.' You admitted, still somewhat skipping over the very big reasoning behind your upset that day. JJ reached her hand out for the side of your arm, luckily missing your bandaged cuts.

'Don't even worry about that. We're always going to look out for you.' She smiled sweetly. 'I'm here for you always, y/n.' You smiled back at her. You'd been in your own little world with Emily over the past few days, and you'd forgotten how supportive the rest of the team were, too. You really did have an amazing support system at work.

I just wish I knew how to let them help me sometimes.

JJ pulled you in for a hug. Something about the way she hugged you made you think she needed it more than you did. You assumed that seeing you here and well, as far as she knew, was a comfort to her after a few days of not hearing from you.

The elevator doors opened and Emily was greeted with the sight of JJ hugging you. Jealousy stopped Emily in her tracks for a second. She wasn't jealous of you and JJ in a romantic sense. She knew she had nothing to worry about there. But she was jealous of JJ hugging you, protecting you, being there for you. That was when she remembered that, to the rest of the team, she had spent the last few days not hearing from you either.

Emily started heading towards you. She didn't even have to jump into the role of 'worried friend', because she was worried about you. She actually just needed to act like there was nothing between you other than a friendship.

'Hey, you.' Emily said, her voice pulling you and JJ out of your hug.

'Hey.' You replied, immediately following Emily's suit.

'How are you feeling? We've all been so worried about you.' Emily said, reaching for the opposite arm JJ went for just seconds ago. You looked between JJ and Emily, finding all this quite unnerving.

The things I'd give to not have the attention on me right now.

'I'm good now, thank you.' You said, as Garcia, Morgan, Rossi and Reid joined you all. Emily raised one eyebrow at you.

Now that isn't good acting of you, is it Emily Prentiss?

'It's so good to have you back.' Spencer said, a cute smile spreading across his face. You smiled back, an awkward silence falling between you and the group. You turned your attention back to Emily.

'How are you anyway, Emily?' You asked, taking her by surprise. She definitely assumed your act was slipping. 'With that family stuff?' You questioned, teasing her acting capabilities a little. She pursed her lips, picking her next words carefully.
