I'm here.

You tried to fight waking up for a little while before finally opening your eyes gradually, adjusting to the morning light.

Ugh.

You reached your arm out of the covers, fumbling for your phone.

Wow, 11am. I actually slept in for once.

You scrolled through your notifications not really processing any of them when a text message popped up.

Garcia
What are you doing tonight?

What anyone would do on their day off: lie in bed all day binge-watching TV.

You
Not a lot, why?

Garcia
Wrong answer. It's girls, gays and theys night tonight, remember?!

You:
Aw sorry Pen, I forgot. I'll be there.

Garcia:
Well that leads me to my next point. We should have it at yours.

You:
Mine? Why?

Garcia:
Because none of the team have ever seen your house and quite frankly we're getting a little worried you're living out of some hotel or something. I mean, who doesn't host parties? It's like everyone's thing.

You:
Okay

Garcia:
Okay... what?

You: Okay we can have it at mine. I'm assuming you've already stalked the address I have listed?

Garcia:
Noooo...

You: I'll see you and JJ here at 6pm.

Garcia:
You're forgetting something.

You: What? Do you need me to get anything in for it?

Garcia:
I mean, if the shops sell an Agent Emily Prentiss then, yeah.

Oh shit. There's no way of getting out of this now, is there?

You:
Of course Emily's invited too. I just didn't think it'd be her thing that's all.

Didn't think she'd want to ever see you again after that stupid profile stunt you pulled the other day, more like.

Garcia:
You're kidding! She LOVES the girls, gays and theys nights. She's a real party girl once you get to know her.

I can not imagine that.

You:
Okay, cool. See you later then.

Garcia:
Bye pumpkin!

She's the only one I'll ever let call me that.

You locked your phone and tossed it to the side, staring up at the ceiling.

I'm gonna need to clean.

Your house wasn't messy. You weren't in enough for it to be messy. But whenever anyone came over you always cleaned the place top to bottom so it was as nice as possible.

Definitely gonna need a big clean if Emily's coming. What's she gonna think of the place?

You lifted yourself up halfway in bed and looked around, planning in your head all the things you needed to do.

I'd better get started.

Several hours later

You were just finished up curling your hair when you heard a knock at the door. You turned your curlers off and unplugged them to be safe, checked yourself out one last time in the mirror and then headed to the front door.

Show time.

You unlocked the door and pulled it open expecting to see a smiling Garcia and her obligatory bottle of wine held up in front of her.

'Prentiss! Hey...' You tried to hide the surprise on your face that she was the first to arrive.

'Hey, sorry... am I early?' Emily peered around you to see if anyone else was there.

'No no, you're right on time. Come in!' You held the door open further and stepped to the side to let her in. After she'd passed you quickly glanced out of the front door hoping Garcia and JJ would magically appear.

'The other two aren't here yet, but make yourself at home. Can I get you a drink?' You pointed towards the coffee table where you'd set out wine and snacks for everyone.

'A red wine would be great, thanks.' Emily smiled at you, before setting down her bag on the sofa and carefully lowering herself next to it.

'Nice place!' She remarked, looking round from her seat.

'Thanks. Not quite the hotel the team thought I was living out of, but it does the job.' Emily laughed through her nose. You handed her the glass of wine you'd just poured and sat down on the one-seater diagonal from her.

I feel like I should say something about the other day.

'Hey, I uh... I've been meaning to apologise about the other day... on the jet? I'm sorry if I offended you.' Emily swallowed the wine she'd just gulped and set it down on the coffee table, holding her hand out at you and shaking her head.

'God, no, don't apologise. You were totally right. And besides, I started it. I mean... I wasn't wrong about you constantly apologising, clearly.' she teased. 'Just like you weren't wrong about any of the things you said about me.' She smiled cheekily and gave you a wink.

You couldn't help but smile, you were so relieved she was chill about it. Emily sat forward in her chair in your direction, her knees almost touching yours.

'Look, I know we were just having a laugh, but... if you ever want to talk to someone...' You looked at her confused, your mind jumping from what you or someone else could have said to make her offer this. Emily noticed your discomfort.

'I just mean... I get it. The job is tough, it gets to you sometimes, and it doesn't leave much more time for you to focus on anything else. What I was saying about you being an anxious person... it was maybe the wrong time to bring it up, but if you ever want to talk about anything at all, I'm here. Sometimes it's easier to talk to people we're not as close to.'

At that, she reached out for your hand and sandwiched it between hers. You just looked at her for a while, taken aback by her gesture. Your eyes lingered on each other for a moment when you heard a knock on the front door.

You turned your head in the direction of the door, and then back at Emily. You were still a little lost for words, so you just placed your free hand on top of hers and quickly rubbed your thumb over it as a thank you. Then you both let go of each other as you stood up to get the door.
