Ren was trying to think like Arisu. She had only met him once, but she learned a lot from the short few minutes she was with him. However, in a game like this, it was more of a mind game than the last one. They had to step so carefully, if one thing fell off the wall or a bell made the faints ring, they were all dead. They already lost two out of the ten.
Ren ducked under the balloons that were hanging on the lower side. She covered any piercing she had in her ears, making sure that it didn't touch the balloon, just in case. Ren really didn't want another balloon popping, especially with Sousuke behind her. He was holding onto the strap of her bag, carefully stepping over the china cups and saucers.
She glanced back at everyone else who were carefully bouncing around and stepping over things.
Ren looked at the adults struggling, then back at the timer: 7 minutes and 57 seconds. They weren't even halfway through the obstacles yet. The halfway point was where the shirtless man was currently lying dead. There was shattered glass around him, which would be fun to walk over.
Sousuke let go of Ren's bag strap, walking ahead a bit when Ren realized something.
The robotic voice never said all ten had to get to the other side without making a single sound. Ren placed her hand on Kaemon's shoulder, stopping him from moving further. He went to shove her hand off his shoulder when she grabbed him by the collar. Kaemon caught himself on the wall, staring at Ren.
She held up her index finger, then pointed to the end of the hall. Kaemon had no fucking idea what Ren was talking about. Ren brought her index finger back to Kaemon's face. 'One,' she mouthed. She then slowly pointed her finger towards the large clock. 'Has to clear it.'
Kaemon looked towards the clock, still not understanding what Ren was talking about. Ren clenched her fist before pulling out her phone. She looked for the potential of a notes application like on her normal phone.
Ren was thankful that the phone that told them how long their visas were and how many cards they collected did have a notes application. Ren just hoped that the keys were either silent or the phone was mute from here on out. Ren typed slowly, making sure that the keys didn't activate anything within the collar. Ren had figured after the loud pop that echoed in the shirtless man's ear that the collar did something to him.
The game never said anything about all of us making it across in ten minutes. Someone has to finish in the span of ten minutes.
Ren shoved her phone into Kaemon's hand, looking towards Sousuke. He was hesitating about going under the metal bar. He looked back at Ren, she gave him a smile to reassure him that it would be okay. Sousuke gave a faint smile before ducking under the bar.
If that's the case, then have it be a 10-person game?
To fuck with us.
Then what happened to the two who died?
Ren read the message, thinking to herself. 'How did they die?' Ren questioned. Ren reached up, gently touching the collar. As she ran her finger around the edge of the collar, she felt something scrap at her skin. Ren froze in place, trying to keep her cool.
The collar was equipped with something within it. No one would see or feel it when they looked closely or ran their fingers on the underside. Whatever it was, it killed instantly.
Ren needed to get closer to the shirtless man to find out for herself. Sousuke was getting closer to him when he slipped a little, losing his balance. He was able to catch himself, but his hand scraped under the bell. Ren froze again, but thankfully the bell didn't activate anything within the collar.
