Chishiya was the first one back to the shelter. His game was over in less than an hour. Now, he was just waiting for Ren and the others to arrive back. Some of the players who stayed behind were just chatting amongst themselves. The kids that still had enough time on their visas were running around. Chishiya sat in one of the corners of the shelter, letting himself get into his head.
Ren and Sara arrived back with Sousuke and Takeru four hours after Chishiya arrived back. Ren was dragging her feet, tired after the game she had to go through. As Ren scanned the room, she didn't see Chishiya at first. She tried not to allow it to show on her face, but she got scared that Chishiya was killed in his last game. However, a wave of relief came over Ren when she saw him in his usual corner, head down. It looked like he was taking a nap, or just closing his eyes for a few minutes.
Ren walked over to Chishiya, gently kicking him in the leg. "You asleep?" Ren asked as she knelt in front of him. Chishiya didn't respond, however in the back of his mind, he was happy to see that Ren made it out alive. Like Ren, Chishiya thought that Ren also died, unaware of the time frame for the game she was playing. "I need medical assistance." Ren commented as she looked down at her bruised and swollen hand.
Chishiya lifted his head, going to tell her off. He stopped himself upon seeing the state of her hand. He also noticed the blood splatter all over her face and clothes. He noticed that she barely made an effort to clean off the blood – she probably startled a lot of people when she arrived back to the shelter.
"Dare I ask what happened?"
Ren looked down at her hand. "A crowbar."
"I meant your face."
"Am I pretty, Chishiya?" Ren batted her eyelashes at him. Chishiya glanced away before shaking his head. "Ouch." Ren chuckled. "Another game with collars of death." Ren shrugged it off, even though Chishiya knew that Ren didn't like the collars they were made to wear for the games from time-to-time. "Help me. Please." Ren said as she held up her hand.
Chishiya couldn't let her walk around with her hand in that state.
Ren sat across from Chishiya, flinching and hissing in pain from the minor touch. Chishiya was trying not to disturb the broken bones within Ren's hand, but at the same time, he couldn't control what Ren's pain either. Even with the slightest touch, Ren was flinching in pain. The pain was finally starting to register to her after the adrenaline faded.
The supplies were simple. Sara said that finding medical supplies was the most difficult. Chishiya suspected that the Beach raided everywhere they could to get the supplies they had. That left barely anything for the other players who wanted nothing to do with the Beach.
Making a makeshift splint for Ren's hand required creativity. Chishiya was able to find a thin piece of wood, breaking parts of it to fit Ren's hand. "You won't be able to move your hand for a while." Chishiya commented as he set Ren's hand down onto the board. Ren bit her lip as Chishiya stretched out her hand. The board was pressed against the palm of her hand. "Sorry." Chishiya apologized. Ren's head lifted to look at Chishiya. His head was still down as he started to wrap Ren's hand with gauze. Chishiya had noticed Ren's hand drawing back as he pressed her palm against the board. "I guess that crowbar was made of titanium." He commented.
"It fell onto me when I fell." Ren commented. "I didn't know it was inside until afterwards." She added.
"Violence was allowed?" Chishiya teased.
Ren tapped Chishiya's knee with her right hand in response. "I had to deal with Banda and Yada again, so having my hand broken was the highlight." Ren rolled her eyes. "Well, second highlight. Smacking the Queen of Spades in the face with said crowbar was fun." Ren said.
