So, with everything said and done, Fay'tari and Lo'ak had become a pair.
Some would argue it took long enough.
Their game had been tarnished along with the hatred they had for each other, which was never pure and genuine to begin with, though Fay'tari would argue against that strongly when considering their younger years.
At first, she found it difficult to accept that her Mother's wishes were being fulfilled, but she learned to change her mindset about it. She thought that if what her Mother wanted was for her daughter to be unhappily paired for the remainder of her life, then she'd just have to make her pairing a happy one. She'd make sure her life was the opposite of what her Mother had planned for it to be, cherishing every moment she spent in her new home, with her new family and therefore her newly found happiness.
From then on, Fay'tari lived peacefully with the Sully's and the Metkayina clan, with Lo'ak by her side, finally being able to cling to something and keep it, without fearing the possibility of it being destroyed or taken away from her. She knew wholeheartedly that everything she'd grown to love and treasure was safe and sound. And if a threat appeared, she was more than ready to fight for it, too.
Fay'tari believed that she'd successfully played fate, it's outcome being something vastly different to what she'd imagined it originally was.
But, she was wrong.
.
Fate isn't something you can avoid.
It cannot be fixed one way nor destroyed in the other.
It cannot be changed in even the slightest of ways so that it's better for you or worse.
Fate can only be rewritten time and time again until it shows itself inevitably, be that saddening, life changing or in some cases, life ending.
Fate moves along with you until it encapsulates you whole, doing what it was always meant to do from the beginning.
You can try to hide from it, run from it or you can accept it, letting it contain you..
Fate cannot be played, but it's a game worth playing.
