(A.N.: huzzah!! you made it to chapter 3! I hope that means that my story has at least piqued your interest 🧍♀️)
(maybe a little bit?)
(By the way, you might find small grammatical errors, such as I have a weird habit of writing in first person, even when I'm trying to write in third person, so sometimes I switch between the two. I try to fix this when I find the mistake but you might catch that error or other errors in my story, and if so I apologize.) I'll try to update more often, also! :)
(Alright, I'll stop bothering you dear reader. Enjoy the book 🦆)She sat at her desk. It was connected to a few other desks so she could communicate with other employees if necessary, but for the most part she was independent and got the hang of things quickly.
Everyone in the office was seemingly quiet as well, and the only audible sound was the clicking of computer keys. Some might find the silence awkward, but Sophie didn't mind. She could focus in peace, after all.Or, she thought she could.
A certain blonde haired boy made that a bit difficult for her.
He kept texting her while she was trying to complete your typical office data-entry assignments. It was admittedly a bit distracting.
However, he must have gotten bored of texting her.
So he had the great idea to come visit her instead.
He nonchalantly opened the door to their department, and a bulky, large figure stood behind him. It was a woman, probably in her mid twenties. She was extremely muscular, but oddly wore two pigtails which seemed an interesting combination.
"Everyone, please don't mind me, get back to work." He said, in a mockingly deep voice. Instead, people started whispering. He then sat in one of those black office chairs, with the small wheels on the bottom. As if he couldn't be any more ridiculous, he started rolling towards her in it. And the woman, who's name card read "'Ro- Bodyguard'" was pushing his chair forward.
He smirked, and she felt impending dread as he rolled right next to her.
"Hey." He said.
She covered her face with her hair. Maybe he would go away if she ignored him.
He rolled even closer, looking at what she was typing on the computer.
"Being a data entry clerk looks boring." He commented.
"It's not that bad." She said, continuing to type on the keys, and continuing to avoid his amused gaze.
"Foster, I hate to break it to you, but you're typing complete gibberish now." He pointed out to her.
"Because you're making me nervous!" She yelled, slamming her hands on the table.
All eyes turned towards them and her face felt as if it were on fire. "Sorry." She whispered. To her surprise, Ro started laughing from behind them.
"What? What's so funny?" She whispered, defensive.
"Nothing, forget it, it's just that you are totally Keefe's type."
"Shut up, Ro." Keefe mumbled, crossing his arms. Ro just snickered.
"Why do you need a bodyguard, anyways?" Sophie asked, ignoring Ro's comment and finally glancing towards his direction. She couldn't think of any good reason, it seemed like a pretty safe environment. It wasn't as if anyone was hunting him down.
"She's less of a bodyguard, and more of a way for my father to keep me out of trouble. He just uses 'bodyguard' as an excuse because he's too embarrassed to admit that I, his grown adult son, needs supervision."
"To be honest, I probably am more troublesome than you are." Ro pointed out, leaning an arm on both Keefe and Sophie's chairs. "It's a miracle the big boss hasn't fired me yet." Ro said, in reference to Keefe's dad.
"I guess I should probably supervise both of you, then." Sophie laughed.
"That means I need to stay close to you at all times." Keefe said, inching closer to her somehow until their elbows were almost touching. Sophie stopped typing abruptly.
And then she pushed his chair, catapulting him far away from her.
Silence.
"That.. Was.. Awesome!" Ro squealed, breaking the silence with large, shimmery eyes of amazement. As for Keefe, as he finally came to a halt, his jaw just dropped. And of course, at this point they had once again caught everyone's unwavering attention."Sorry." Sophie stammered, feeling guilty. She rushed over to him, hoping he would say something. To be honest, she wouldn't blame him if he was angry.
"I wasn't expecting that." He admitted, still in a daze. He recollected himself, and ran his fingers through his now frizzy head of hair. "You always find ways to amaze me, Foster." He said, his trademark smirk once again plastering onto his face. She breathed a sigh of relief. So he wasn't angry.
However, as for his father, that was a different story."What is the meaning of this?"
The same voice that sounded through the intercom earlier snapped at them, and everyone in the room seemed to straighten. Some pretended to go back to work. Sophie just froze. Keefe looked guilty.
A tall figure strode into the room. From his neatly slicked back hair, to his expensive, shined black shoes, he seemed to give off the impression that he was- or at least thought himself to be- perfect in every way.
Ro took the cue and dashed over to Keefe, barking at him in a disapproving voice. She side glanced at Cassius, seemingly hoping he'd go away.
Nonetheless, Cassius still wore a suspicious look. His eyes were narrowed into slits, and he glared at his son. Ro just sighed and backed away. She couldn't help him now.
"Keefe Sencen, why aren't you in the meeting downstairs?" His father said in a mild tone. His voice was lowered now, calm even. But his eyes stared at his son so intently with disapproval and disgust. The impression was given to Sophie that he simply wanted to maintain a good image in front of everyone. Keefe's eyes flickered back and forth. It was strange seeing him looking so frantic. He was afraid of his father."It's my fault, sir." Sophie said suddenly.

Sorry for the little cliffhanger! To be continued!! Thanks for reading this far!!
Q: should I do one of the chapter's in Keefe's point of view?
