(I know what you're probably thinking. "Woah, this girl took another century to upload a chapter?
sorry!!!!! I took a long break from wattpad. In the future I shouldn't be away for so long. I'll *try* and upload more chapters this week to make up for it.
Anyways, onto the story. Enjoy lol.)

Sophie finished unwrapping all of the gifts, including Biana's unusually large and heavy gift which happened to be a karaoke machine. Huh.

"Thank you everyone." She said warmly. "I'll cherish all of these gifts." Which was probably a lie, but whatever. She would at least cherish most of them.
Especially Keefe's.
She really liked that drawing.

"Which one was your favorite?" Amy asked.
Sophie shot her a look. She was hoping she didn't have to answer that. Amy smiled and shrugged.
"It was mine. It was definitely mine, guys." Keefe piped in. "Did you see her hug anyone else? Nope. So like I said, it was defini-"
"I loved all of them." Sophie lied. Keefe was right, though. It was definitely his. And he knew all too well.

"Alright everyone!" Fitz said, clapping his hands to get our attention and standing on a chair so we could see and hear him better.
"I hope you all finished your food because it's time to party!"
She did not sign up for this. She thought she was coming to a birthday dinner, not.. This.
Too late. The room went dark, and then there were lights flashing in everyone's eyes. The next thing she knew she was being dragged to the 'dance floor,' which was just Fitz's living room.

It was her birthday, and she didn't want to make things awkward by shoving herself in the nearest corner, as much as that's where she would prefer to be. So she did dance with Biana, at least she wouldn't feel too guilty for tripping over her feet. She noticed Biana's eyes straying towards Dex's direction, so she excused herself to get a drink from the kitchen so they could dance together. It was a tidal wave of relief anyways, to get away from the loud and bright room.

"The party too noisy for you Foster?" Asked Keefe, approaching her. He began to pour himself some punch.

"A little bit." Sophie said, leaning against the counter. She also didn't want to admit she couldn't dance for the life of her.

"Want to go back out?" Keefe asked. She could tell he really wanted to be out there, so she wasn't sure why he came in here with her. He was probably bored to death.

"I'm fine," Sophie said. "You can go without me."

"Come on Foster, it'll be fun. Just one dance?"

"One dance.. With me?" She laughed nervously.

He nodded enthusiastically.

"But I don't know how." She admitted.

"Just trust me." He said, grabbing her hand and dragging her back out to the dance floor. If one didn't know better it would look as though he was taking her hostage, with how much she resisted to get away. She was not about to be publicly humiliated.

"Just watch, you're going to be the life of the party in just a second." Keefe shouted in her ear above the blaring music.

"WHAT?" Sophie yelled back.

He dragged her over to the radio, and flipped it to a different station. Salsa music?!

Soon, everyone chose a partner and began dancing. Fitz approached her and held out his arm, and she had no choice but to take it. He knew she couldn't dance, so he taught her. Their feet soon aligned and Sophie surprised herself by only tripping twice. Sophie found herself actually enjoying the dance.

Then another hand took hers. Keefe. He spun her around until they were not even an inch apart, and then he dramatically let her fall back into his arms. Everyone stepped back to watch them. So this is what he meant by life of the party.  She was then swooped back up, and soon they fell into a rhythm. Sophie couldn't stop herself from laughing as she was twirled and tossed about. She felt like a puppet.

Just as the song was about to finish, Sophie started to smell smoke. That's weird. She was probably just imagining it though.

At least, that's what she thought, until the fire alarm started screeching and sending everyone into a mass panic. Sophie froze, her vision going blurry, and her body shutting down. People bumped past her, but she couldn't see them. All she could see was her house, and her dead parents. Memory and reality were clashing and she couldn't tell what was happening anymore. She felt so hot, just as she did that day. Her nostrils burned, too.

I'm going to die here. She thought as she slumped to the floor. She was going to meet the same fate as her parents.

A pair of arms swept her off the ground, and she couldn't make out his blurry face, but distinctively those icy blue eyes, which contrasted with the dark room around them, sent a wave of relief over her. Maybe she was safe, she thought, as her vision blacked out completely.

Her eyes opened, and she shot up from the bed she was laying on.

Fitz's room? Yes. It was his room. The teal walls gave it away.

"You're awake?" A voice said softly from beside her. Keefe's troubled eyes met her own. "Are you okay? You kinda zonked out there. Thankfully it was just Marella. She forgot to take the rotisserie chicken out of the oven earlier and burnt it."

"Oh." Sophie gulped, wiping a bit of sweat off her forehead. "I'm okay. Just ptsd."

"You don't look okay." Keefe said. She was fighting to hold back tears. He immediately read her expression. Hearing footsteps approaching, she panicked internally, not wanting to be seen crying. Keefe wrapped her in a hug so nobody could see the front of her face.

Sophie composed herself and faced everyone with an apologetic smile. "Sorry about that. I guess I freaked out a little."

"Not at all. It isn't your fault." Fitz said.

"I am so sorry." Marella pitched in. "I was careless and should have payed closer attention to what I was cooking. It's totally my fault. On your birthday, too.."

"It's okay. Don't be hard on yourself. I'm totally recovered now. By the way, is Amy okay..?"

"Yeah. She was just a little spooked. She's downstairs on the couch with Biana and Linh. She's fine though."

Sophie was relieved. But more so she was really tired. She yawned.

"You should go home." Fitz said. "You seemed really shocked, you must be drained."

"You also partied a lot." Keefe said.

"Yeah, me and Amy are going to head out. Goodnight everyone."

Later, at home, Sophie finally got a chance to find the secret message in the teddy bear Keefe got her. She didn't know wether she should dread pressing the button or not. I mean, how bad could it be?

Then again, it was Keefe. The master of pranks.
She was half afraid the teddy bear would explode or something if she pressed on the arm. But then again, wouldn't it be more fun if she pressed it when everyone else was around? Why would he not want anyone else to hear?

Alright. It would probably be better to just get it over with. She squeezed her eyes shut and pressed the far from innocent looking teddy bear's arm.
It didn't explode. Instead it relayed this message to her.

"Hey Foster," Keefe's voice said through the teddy.
"I hope you know I'm not that evil. I wasn't going to prank you on your birthday. In case that's what you were thinking."
Pause.
"I should probably get to the point, shouldn't I? I don't think you can record much more than a minute on this thing. What I wanted to say was.."
