If I Were Faster

If I were faster I had all it takes,
To climb the tree so I could the descent see
If I were strong my lungs would not feel empty,
But as it is I take a few more breaks.

If I were wiser I would know the stakes,
But I do not so I walk innocently.
To prove respect I treat myself more gently
Than others tend to do when pain awakes.

All these Ifs mean I have lesser chances,
I'm with my hidden talents on my own,
Bothers me not would be a lie to say.

But if the tree I climb won't grow more branches
And if the way won't clear itself from stones,
Then I climb riskier or find another way.
