"So let me get this straight, he dumped you because you don't want to be a vampire?" Zion asked me as he set me down onto my bed and sat down next to my legs.
"Yeah... But enough about me. What brings you to the academy?" I asked him, feeling brave enough after opening up about what had happened to me.
"You. I thought you'd put that bit together at least when I knew your name." he chuckled.
I froze and he stopped chuckling to study my reaction.
"Why?" I asked him nervously.
"You know about our kind. That's forbidden so I'm here to wipe your memory of our kind." he said calmly.
"How did you find out?" I asked him as my pulse began to quicken.
"I've been keeping close tabs on my sire, Andrew. When I heard his attacks stopped, I sent a spy and found out he was with a human - You. I put two and two together and figured you were his source of blood. I didn't expect to stumble on you the way that I did." he said as he placed his cool hand on my thigh.
"Andy is your sire? What does that mean?" I asked, my thigh growing warm where his hand was placed.
"Andrew, not Andy. Andrew is the demon I created within Andy. I am his master." he explained with a friendly smile.
"You speak of him as if they are separate identities." I said confused.
"That's because they are. Vampire Andy refused to merge with demon Andrew. So instead of being like me who has full control over both demon and vampire as one, he is fighting his demon and it's like two identities exist in one host." he said and I nodded, understanding him.
"Well, I don't want my mind to be wiped. I've kept his secret and I still intend to keep it, even if he no longer wants to be with me." I said sadly.
"You intrigue me Scarlet. Maybe I'll hold the idea of wiping your mind." he said as he removed his hand from my thigh.
"On what condition?" I asked bravely.
"Condition?" he looked at me confused.
"What's the catch?" I pressed on and he shook his head.
"There's no catch. Hmmm, okay maybe there is a little one." he said with an amused look on his face.
"What is it?" I asked him, a little worried.
"Hide me, Here. Keep my presence a secret." he said seriously.
"When you say here... do you mean like here?" I said gesturing to my room.
"Yes, I'd like to be your roomie." he said grinning.
"No weird shit right?" I asked him and he laughed out loud.
"Depends on what you define as weird, Scarlet." he said as he put his hand back on my thigh.
I pulled my legs up to my chest, causing his hand to slide off. He looked at me concerned.
"You should wash up and get out of those bloody clothes. The smell... it's intense." he said as he stood up and walked over to the chair on the other side of my room.
I slowly got up and made my way over to my bathroom. I wasted no time getting undressed and into the shower. I let the hot water burn my skin as I collapsed to the shower floor sobbing silently.
After I had pulled myself together, I got dressed into my pajamas and walked back into my room. Zion was on my bed against the wall, shirtless.
"You can't sleep in my bed." I stated bravely and he chuckled.
"Just get into your bed, I wont touch you. I promise, Scarlet." he said as he folded his arms across his chest.
I rolled my eyes and climbed into bed next to him and pull my covers over me.
"Wow, you're not even going to fight me on this?" he sounded shocked.
"Nope, I'm too exhausted. Good night Zion." I mumbled as I closed my eyes.
"Good night Scarlet." he said sweetly.
*
"Scarlet. You need to wake up. I'm assuming you have a class to get to." he said as he ran his fingers through my hair.
I shot up to find that I was half-sprawled across his chest. I looked at him in horror and he laughed.
"That was all you. You cuddled up to me and pulled yourself up onto my chest, I didn't have the heart to push you away. Considering what you went through last night, I figured you could do with that peaceful sleep." he said as he brushed my hair out of my face.
"Don't do that." I scolded him softly.
"Don't do what?" he asked, feigning innocence.
"Pretend to care." I said as I rolled out of bed.
"I'm not pretending, Scarlet. Don't be so quick to push away kindness." he said stretched his arms out above his head.
"Why are you being so nice to me?" I asked him.
"I have no reason to not be nice to you. Kindness is good morale for roomies. So, stop being so sour." he said with a friendly smile.
I rolled my eyes again and picked a skirt and crop top from my cupboard before disappearing into my bathroom to get ready. Once I was ready I stepped back in my room to find him stretching again in the middle of my room. He looked over to me and his eyes widened before narrowing slightly.
I couldn't help but find him attractive, his long black hair cascading down his back. He smiled as he caught me staring at him too.
"I can see why he was drawn to you. You are breathtaking." he said as he grabbed his shirt and put it on, his muscular build disappearing from my sight.
My face betrayed me by showing my disappointment and he chuckled.
"Pervert." he teased me and my face flushed bright red from embarrassment.
"I'm sorry." I said as I brought my hands up to cover my blushing cheeks.
"Don't hide from me, it's adorable." he said as he gently pulled my hands from my face.
He leant down to kiss my forehead.
"Enjoy your classes. I'll be here if you need me. Or if you need me to come to you, just call out my name." he said as he gazed into my eyes.
I stepped away from him and made my way to my door. I looked back at him.
"Thank you, Zion." I said before I left my room.
I know I shouldn't feel so comfortable around him. This man made Andy into the monster that he is. Why is he being so nice to me, does he have ulterior motives? What is he up to?
