I posted a convo long time ago about this I'm the fucking priest here so leave me alone

"I'm so scared Liz," Newt said, pacing back and forth.

"Mhm, see, that's what I don't get," Lizzy said, leaning back on the couch, folding her arms. "Why are people scared when they're getting married? Shouldn't they be happy?"

Newt stopped. "Yeah. I guess you're right."

"Course I'm right!" Lizzy jumped up and straightened Newt's shirt and turned him around so they both faced the slightly cracked mirror and placed a hand on his shoulder. "You'll be fine. How could Thomas not marry you? You look dashing."

"You don't look half bad either."

"I look like a lesbian. That's the point though."

"I'm surprised Harriet still hasn't popped the question."

Lizzy rolled her eyes. "Puh-lease. We all know that's gonna be me."

Newt didn't say anything, just kept biting his lip.

"We have to go now," Lizzy said softly.

Newt nodded, exhaling. "Okay."

———

Neither of them were particularly religious, and there wasn't a church anyway, so Newt and Thomas decided to get married on the beach.

Rows of benches on two sides formed an aisle in between.

Thomas stood at the front with Minho, waiting anxiously.

"Dude, you're fiddling with your nails. Stop. That nail varnish nearly cost me my life," Minho scolded quietly.

"I'm scared Min," Thomas confessed.

"Why?!"

"I don't fucking know!!"

"Two minutes Thomas," Hanna reminded him. (😎)

*two minute time skip*

And there he was.

The love of his life, walking down the aisle in a white loose shirt, liking arms with his sister.

Thomas thought he was going to cry.

Lizzy led Newt to the front and stood behind him. Newt took Thomas's hands and squeezed them gently, smiling through tears. Are you okay?

Thomas squeezed them back. Yeah.

Then Hanna began speaking. (😎soz but u cant hate me im too cool)

"Today, we're gathered on this fine beach to celebrate the legal joining of two amazing human souls," they said, loud and clear. Im dying. "Also spiritual, and I'd say religious but I don't think Catholics really exist anymore." She types while being a catholic

A few people laughed.

"But what's religion anymore anyway? The sun couldn't be brighter today," Hanna said. "Now, please state your vows."

Newt cleared his throat. "Thomas. Tommy. You fucking fantastic human. Where the hell do I begin? You looked like an absolute idiot in the Box. I thought you were a bit of a weirdo. I didn't think I'd end up marrying you. Everything went to shit as soon as you came, and it was almost definitely your fault. But you gave me hope Tommy, you gave me so much hope that we might actually make it out alive. And here we are. I love you. Nothings ever going to change that."

Thomas brought one hand to his face to wipe his cheek before talking. "Newt," he said, voice breaking slightly. "You were my light and you still are. You're my everything. I never have and never will love someone as much as I love you. I will spend the rest of my life telling you how much I love you, that's why this vows pretty frickin' short. I love you, that's all I have to say."

Then, Lizzy shuffled forward, holding a small pillow with two rings. Thomas took the first and with a shaking hand, slipped it onto Newt's finger, and Newt did the same.

"Do you, Thomas, take Newt to be your husband, to love and to hold as long as you both shall live?" Hanna asked.

"I-I do."

"And do you, Newt, take Thomas to be your husband, to love and to hold for as long as you both shall live?"

Newt was crying too now. "I do."

"With whatever power I have," Hanna said, smiling, "I pronounce you husband and husband. You can kiss now."

Cheers sounded as Newt dipped Thomas down and kissed him like it was their last.

It was their first of many.
