Newt and Thomas graciously accepted the invite to Lizzy and Harriet's dinner with Aris and Minho.
It was nice seeing their lifelong friends again.
After dinner they decided to move to the garden, have a few drinks on the porch, except Harriet who was having her and Lizzy's baby.
"Would it be terribly rude if I lay down for a few minutes?" Harriet asked.
"No princess, it's okay," Lizzy kissed her forehead before she got up.
"Don't leave without saying goodbye," Harriet said, pointing at Aris.
"Wouldn't dream of it," he smiled.
Harriet waved and went back inside the house when she heard retching from the bathroom.
"Newt?" She knocked on the door. "You alright?"
"No," the blonde croaked and Harriet opened the door, stepped inside, closing it.
Newt was kneeling in front of the toilet, pale and sweaty. When he looked up Harriet could see how tired he was.
"Newt..."she said. "How long has this been happening?"
"Like a month," Newt responded, closing and flushing the toilet.
Harriet blinked. "I meant today."
"Oh, um, like five six minutes?"
"Wait, a month? You've been sick for a whole month?"
"Not really sick," Newt muttered looking down.
Harriet's eyes widened and she lowered herself next to Newt, groaning a little. "You're pregnant, aren't you?" She asked softly.
Newt pursed his lips and nodded.
"Oh chicken," Harriet opened her arms and Newt crawled forward and she held the blonde while he cried quietly. "Why haven't you said anything?"
"B-because me and Tommy never talked about h-having kids and I panicked and..." Newt trailed off, still crying.
"Alright now, wipe your tears," Harriet pulled Newt back to look at him. "That's it, crying won't get us anywhere. So, how far are you?"
"Three months."
"And when did you find out?"
"Last week."
"You still haven't told him?"
Newt shrugged. "I kinda hoped he'd figure it out when I found out. Clearly the signs are too subtle."
"Are you showing yet?" Harriet asked softly.
Newt pulled up his sweater. He wasn't properly showing yet, but his toned stomach seemed much softer and there was a very slight curve.
"Aw, your bump is so small," Harriet cooed. "Can I...?"
Newt nodded, smiling a little.
Harriet reached out and placed a gentle hand on his stomach. "I remember when I just started showing," she said. "Lizzy was crazy about it. Look at me now," Harriet laughed. "The difference between us is ridiculous."
Indeed, Newt didn't even look pregnant compared to Harriet.
"Am I going to be that big?" Newt asked, liking the feeling of Harriet's warm hand against his skin.
"Assuming you're keeping the baby, yeah, you will," Harriet responded. "You have to tell him."
"I'll tell him later," Newt said. "Can we stay here for a little bit though?" He asked shyly. "Unless you rather somewhere else."
"This is fine with me," Harriet smiled, moving to lean against the wall, patting the space next to her.
Newt sat there and leaned against her shoulder. "Can I feel your belly?" Newt asked quietly.
"Of course honey," Harriet placed Newt's hand against her large stomach and they stayed like that.
"Thank you Harriet," Newt said. "You're going to be a great mother."
Harriet smiled.
I love this.
You don't? Not my problem.
You do? Thanks babe
