"Newt, where are you going?" His mother called as he opened the door.

"I'm meeting my boyfriend in the arcade." Newt slammed the door shut as he heard his mother scoff.

He walked quickly to the bus stop, and was soon outside the arcade.

I'm outside love xxx he fired off a text.

Which entrance lmao I been waiting five minutes came the speedy reply.

Newt laughed and walked to the other side of the building to see his brunette leaning against the wall. Thomas looked up and smiled at the blonde.

"Hey Tommy." Newt wrapped his arms around Thomas and buried his face in the crook of his neck. Then he pecked his lips and pulled away. "You alright today?"

Thomas' smile turned sad. "Maybe a small bit, but it hurts."

"I know darling." Newt rubbed his cheek. "Shall we go in?"

Thomas grinned and took Newt's hand, dragging the older boy along.

Surprisingly, they didn't do much.

They played a few arcade games then went to sit down at a table next to a food court.

Thomas gasped. "Newt, look!"

Newt followed to where Thomas was pointing with his eyes and they landed on a cheap looking claw machine.

"It looks like bullshit." Newt laughed.

"Yeah but look at the little rings!" Thomas stood up and dragged Newt over. "Aren't they cute? You know I'm good at these things."

Newt sighed. "Alright," he handed Thomas a few coins, "but the rest is for food and you don't get a second chance."

"No pressure." Thomas rolled his eyes and began playing.

Just like he hoped, he expertly manoeuvred the claw to grab two instead of one, a green one with daisies and a dark blue one with stars.

"You cheated." Newt laughed as Thomas collected his prize.

"All for a good reason." Thomas winked at the blonde. "Which one do you like more?"

"This one." Newt picked up the green one with daisies.

"It's all yours." Thomas kissed Newt on the cheek.

They went back to the food court and ordered two slushies, sat down at an empty table and drank in silence. After a while, Newt noticed Thomas was deep in thought.

"What cha thinkin' about?" He asked, laying his head in his arms, watching the brunette.

Thomas tapped the table. "We're both eighteen."

"Yeah?"

"And I love you."

"I've known that for a while."

"We got into the same college."

"Yeaaah?"

"Our parents hate us, well, mine do."

"Mine as well."

Thomas stood up suddenly. "It's just us. We've only got each other." Then he moved around to Newt's side of the table and held out his hand. "The ring, please."

Newt sat up, frowning, and placed the ring Thomas's palm.

Thomas...got down on one knee.

Some people had noticed and were watching the two boys.

"Newt."

"Tommy."

"I love you."

"I love you too."

"Our families hate us."

"I know."

"Marry me."

Newt blinked. "What?"

"Marry me. Then nobody can part us and I know that sounds cheesy and it really is but I love you so fucking much and if someone took you away from me I'd die. We're going to the same college and after that we're free. We'll move to...I dunno, fecking, Peru or something, we'll get jobs and we'll live the rest of our lives together. I don't know how you are with commitment," Thomas laughed, "but for you I'd walk to the ends of the earth. I love you, Newt. I want to spend the rest of my life with you and judging from your expression I can only hope you feel the same."

The people watching held their breath, one girl crossed all her fingers.

"Tommy...Jesus, yes you idiot!" Newt exclaimed and jumped into Thomas's arms. Thomas picked him up and spun him around while some people clapped.

Thomas placed Newt back on the ground and slipped the green ring onto his finger. Newt looked at the brunette and, forgetting they were in public, kissed him passionately, broke away crying.

"I love you."

"I love you too."
