Chapter 12: Relapse

As Taehyung rummages through a bookstore on a Monday morning, he sees the book that Jungkook has been searching for. Knowing that something has been worrying his boyfriend, he has searched all over Seoul for the rare book.

"Excuse me, I'd like to check out." Taehyung smiles as he clutches the precious book to his chest. I hope this helps you smile.

After buying the book with the money he has meticulously saved up, he happily skips out of the bookstore. As he leaves the bookstore, Jungkook's mother walks past him into the store. Due to his excitement, Taehyung does not notice her; however, she notices him.

"Hello, Ma'am, how can I help you?" The owner of the rare bookstore asks as he welcomes her into the store.

"I am looking for this book." She tells him and shows him a picture of the book.

"I apologize. A young man just bought it a minute ago." The man apologizes when he sees the picture of the book.

"Was it the young man who just left?" She asks when she remembers Taehyung.

"Yes, Ma'am." He responds.

"That is very interesting." She hums and bows then leaves the store.

When Taehyung reaches Jungkook's empty office at the university, he remembers Jungkook telling him that he has an important appointment, so he won't be in the office until after lunch.

"Kim Taehyung, are you looking for Professor Jeon?" Another professor asks as he walks past the office.

"Oh yes, Sir." Taehyung smiles as he greets the professor.

"As his assistant, I thought you would know." The other professor mutters.

"Know what?" Taehyung mumbles as he looks at the older professor.

"He is at the hospital for his six month check up, but this checkup is about two months early. As his assistant, I guess it is important for you to know, so you can help him take care of his health. He had cancer a few years ago, so he has check ups every six months." The professor explains to a nervous Taehyung.

"Do you know which hospital his appointment is in? I'll go there and make sure that he is feeling well." Taehyung mutters as his eyes fill with tears.

"Oh yeah he's at Grace Hospital." The professor is left stunned when Taehyung suddenly runs off. "It's a good thing Professor Jeon has an assistant who worries about him." The professor mutters and walks off.

Stressed and worried, Taehyung runs to the hospital instead of taking a taxi in the congested traffic. Is he the one my hyungs were talking about having cancer? Why didn't he tell me? 

"Where is the cancer section of the hospital?" Taehyung asks as he runs up to the front desk.

"It is on the fifth floor." The nurse answers and watches as Taehyung runs to the stairs.

When Taehyung reaches the fifth floor, he searches for the offices of the doctors who would consult Jungkook. Once he finds them, he sits in the waiting room while clutching the book to his chest as his thoughts run wild with worry.

"Taehyung?" Jungkook stands outside of his doctor's door surprised when he sees Taehyung sitting in the waiting room.

"Professor." Taehyung sniffles and looks up at Jungkook with teary eyes.

"Let's find somewhere quiet to talk." Jungkook softly smiles and reaches his hand out to hold Taehyung's hand.

"M'kay." Taehyung quietly mumbles and holds Jungkook's warm hand.
