Chapter 21: Comfort

By the time they return to the beach house, Jungkook's father has already arrived. Jungkook quickly kisses Taehyung on the cheek before they go into the house.

"Are you two here to tell me to go get treatment in Australia?" Jungkook asks his parents when he and Taehyung walk into the breakfast room.

"How did you know?" His mother asks in surprise.

"Why else would you both come here?" Jungkook mumbles and looks at his father.

"And what is your response?" His father asks while examining Taehyung.

"I'll go. I have a promise to keep." Jungkook answers while Taehyung looks down to hide his tears.

"Very well. You will leave in a week." His father mutters and gets up from his seat to leave.

Jungkook quietly watches as his father leaves without another word. For him, the only time his father ever speaks to him is to tell him to do something or when they are fighting. He can't remember a time when they had a conversation.

"Should we eat?" Jungkook's mother quickly asks to distract her son.

"Sure." Jungkook mumbles and pulls out a chair for Taehyung to sit in.

"Oh, I realize that I have never told you my name! I am Lee Boyoung." She tells Taehyung as she sets their plates out for them.

"It is lovely to meet you." Taehyung smiles and politely bows his head to her then quickly wipes his tears away.

"You can call me Eomeonim if you want to." She looks at Taehyung expectantly.

"Okay, Eomeonim." Boyoung instantly smiles when she hears Taehyung address her as 'eomeonim'.

The breakfast is quiet as Taehyung does his best to not think about Jungkook leaving in a week. Boyoung notices that Taehyung is quiet and is only picking at his food.

"Won't you be too tired from your final chemotherapy treatment to fly?" Taehyung quietly mutters and pokes the fried egg on his plate with his fork.

"Since Jungkook is starting the new treatment in Australia, he will not need to finish the treatment here. This week is for him to rest." Boyoung softly explains to a relieved Taehyung.

"That is good then." He quietly whispers and pokes his egg again.

"Since you are worried about Jungkook, why don't you come with us to Australia to be with him?" Boyoung suggests.

"I promised Jungkook that I would continue working on my degree without pause." Taehyung mutters while Jungkook gently takes his hand and holds it.

"Once I am better, I will be by your side again, and I will carry you wherever you want to go." Jungkook softly tells his crying boyfriend.

"I want to travel the world, so you better workout and carry me all over the world." Taehyung sniffles and intertwines their fingers.

A sudden knock on the door startles Taehyung. To Taehyung's confusion, Jungkook smiles and gets up to go and answer the door. Taehyung's eyes widen when he hears Jin's voice suddenly filling the home.

"I can't believe you would go somewhere with Tae when he can't cook." Jin softly scolds Jungkook when the door opens.

"Thank you for coming." Jungkook chuckles as Jin shakes his head as if he is scolding a child.

"Of course! I can't let you two starve. Did someone cook?" Jin mumbles when he smells breakfast.

"Yes-"

"Tae! Did you burn the kitchen down?!" Jin gasps in horror and quickly runs to the breakfast room.

"I did not." Taehyung pouts when his older brother runs into the room. "Plus, I can cook a few things."
