i used to think about the way you'd always be on your phone
whenever i'd be talking to you, and you used that annoyed little tone
and i wanted to pull the ring off my finger
but i knew the memories would always linger
oh my, why are you so complicated?
there's this friend, she used to be so great
but then we fought, and it's over, i guess it's just fate
then on a christmas eve, "i'm sorry, can we fix this?"
well, sorry, it's just a little too late
i'm doing so much better now
wishing all the people who walked all over me like the schoolyard pavement the best
some of them say, "let's forget all this!" they persisted
but, oh dear, i almost forgot that you existed
